    The facts:

    Just recently bought the truck

    09 Tacoma access cab
    4.0 MT
    140k Miles
    Pedal commander
    Icon dynamic suspension
    TRD air box
    Borla cat back

I just recently had the rack & pinion replaced. Had to have the air bag clock spring replaced after that.

The VCS light & check engine light came on. I cleared the codes & have had no trouble the past few days.
Today I had to get a 4 wheel alignment & just picked up the truck & when I shift between 1st to 2nd you can feel the loss of power. I can take my foot off the gas & romp it a time or two then the power comes back. This same thing happens between 2nd & 3rd.
When I keep it in ECO all seems to be good.

    please advise,

    thank you,
    b

What were the codes you cleared?

Have you tried to ditch the pedal commander?

Could it be my throttle position sensor making the truck act up? If so is this an easy fix or should I start somewhere else 1st.

The p2121 might be setting because the pcm doesnt like the pedal commander..

There are 2 electrical circuits that look at the relationship between the position of the gas pedal and the position of the throttle plate. The code is sayin that the 2 circuits dont "agree"

Trouble shooting chart says 2 possible suspects are pedal position sensor and pcm.

If you were going to throw parts at it I'd start with the pedal pos sensor.. but only after cleaning the throttle body and removing the pedal commander (just to see if it changes anything.. alot of electrical gremlins can be traced to added on aftermarket equipment)

Is cleaning the throttle body easy?

    Super easy

Look up some youtube videos or look around here for a thread. Dont use brake cleaner. Use tb cleaner or maf cleaner

It’s not the pedal commander. I removed it & the problem is still there is the throttle position sensor the entire gas pedal??

The sensor at the pedal is the pedal position sensor or APP. It may be sold only as a whole unit with pedal/sensor together

There is no separate throttle position sensor on our trucks, just the throttle body assembly with all the electronics built inside

Ordered the pedal today. I cleaned the throttle body last night. Let me ask this question. Would disconnecting both sides of the battery help in this situation or do you think the pedal is my issue?

Sure you can disconnect the battery, it resets the adaptive throttle plate position back to its baseline/starting point. Its good practice whenever you clean a throttle body on any car with a drive-by-wire throttle..

Respectfully, if you want to be sure the APP will fix the problem before installing it you really need to diagnose the code properly.

    Otherwise you're just throwing parts
