I am experiencing a general lack of power when driving my 04. It's started recently and I'm not sure why it is. Also, possibly related or not, my transmission has been shifting more roughly

no cel codes? There are ALOT of causes of power loss. Gona need more info like what engine/tranny it has and any other symptoms. All the usual stuff include MAF. o2 sensors, plugs/wires, knock sensor harness, injectors.

1st I would do a drain and fill of the transmission. Maybe drop the tranny pan and replace the tranny filter and clean the magnets.

Could you have fouled the O2 sensor while you were cleaning it or did you clean it after the problem Started?
    • Double check to make sure all the hoses and electrical connectors you touched recently are plugged in.
    • Plug in a code reader and see if you have any pending codes. Take it to any autoparts store if you don't have a code reader or buy one cheap online at Amazon or ebay. They have a Bluetooth OBDII reader that you can connect to you phone and you can download the free app "Torque". If you don't have pending codes it will make it difficult to narrow down.
We may be able to help you more if you give us very detailed symptoms that you are experiencing.

@bawilson21 Everything I have touched has been plugged in correctly. No pending codes. I cleaned the MAF like 4 months ago and the symptoms started a month ago. drain and fill was done roughly 6 months ago by my trusted mechanic. The shifting is much worse when acceleration hard and it struggles a bit around 70 mph but once I get passed roughly 76 it accelerates better. I've lubed the driveline recently and the diffs and transfer case got a drain and fill aswell. Could it be plugs or wires? Sometimes the truck has a difficult time cranking. 138000 miles with stock plugs and wires, Brand new battery. I'm at a loss

You should do a basic tune up. Plugs, Air Filter, oil change if you haven't had one in a while. If you have a K&N air filter, toss it in the trash and get a OEM type filter. If your plug wires look tired, replace those also.

I agree, look to the tranny for your issues, drain and check fluid for debris, if you find any drop the pan and replace the filter, refill and hope for the best, otherwise its tranny rebuild time.

if your loss in power coincides with higher rpms that's another indicator its the tranny slipping

Did I read back in 2015 you were still on original plugs at 138xxx mies? Isn't that way over due of replacement of the plugs?

yeah i ran them to about 140000 and switched them out along with wires. Didnt notice really any better performance when i switched them and the plugs that came out were more or less clean
