Check with your auto insurance…they may cover the cost of a replacement fob. Also, roadside assistance will cover the replacement as well, if you have something like AAA.

I got a spare key and fob (h-key) from Toms Key. Lot cheaper than buying a fob from the dealer and having them program it. You rent the programmer, program your new fob and key to the truck then send the programmer back. Really easy process. As far as deleting your old key, not sure on that one.

Not sure if toyotas do this, but other companies do this. When you program a new key, you have to have all the other keys there too. Programming them kicks all the old key out so they dont work anymore. Its a nice feature when your key gets lost or stolen it cant be used on the car again (physical key can still be used, but the fobs cant)

The FSM says up to 5 keys can be registered. There is a procedure to delete all but one key then re-register the keys you have. A locksmith should be able to do this and program a replacement fob. I had a local locksmith cut and program two additional keys for half of what the stealership would have charged.

We were able to get my wife new chip keys made by a mobile locksmith a few months back when she lost her only key. Was way cheaper than the dealer.

If you use Toms system it resets all the fobs and any not there for programming are deleted from the system. Its part of the normal reprogramming process.
