Lost my key last Thursday have been looking for a week now can,t find them so I guess I have to bite the bullet and get a replacement. I have been doing a search here on this forum and only found 2nd Gen Keys on Amazon and the cable for programing was wondering if there is somebody in Phoenix where I can get a key from besides the Stealer like a locksmith or or any idea?? :(:(

You get a set of two when you buy the truck new. I still have 1 key would like to have 2 sets since one set stays at home just in case I be brain dead again. As of today I still have not found that darn key I lost it someplace in the house turned the house/garden/garage over 3x and still nothing.:(

It will be in the last place you look for sure.
Not sure if a 18 or 17 fob will work. Stealer is going to say it all needs to be replaced though.

Yep, I'm missing my spare also, dealer says around $500, I say no thanks.

Stealer quoted me $ 191.00 for the key $65.00 to program it. Funny never lost a key in my Life I still have a whole drawer full of keys from all the cars I owned in the past mostly Mercedes keys and some other Euro Brands.

That's not bad, but you know the second you do this.... you will find the other key within hours or the next day.

    DIY.
Invest in techstream $30 so you can reprogram your key, tpms, seat belts noises, transmission temp....etc
Get an uncut fob $30, G/H chip ( must be cut by locksmith, transponder chip must be programed via techstream to your car immobiliser).

Best bet is to find an ACE hardware store near you that does the Duracell program. OEM keys and fobs for less than half of a dealer. You can buy knockoffs on Amazon but most all stores will refuse to cut or program. Liability issue not a sales issue.

I’m sitting in the waiting room at the dealer right now, having a key programmed. I’m a bit of a fringe case though, Utility package keys are like 30 bucks. Programming is still 65 but I would rather do that instead of futz with China brand dongles of suspect quality and origin.

The keys Ace does with their Duracell program are OEM. Less than half the price of a dealer but your money

Ace told me they couldn't program 2016+ Tacomas. Anyways I made it out of the dealer with my ass intact, cost me $95. Ace said $70 and then couldn't do it. :notsure:

I got a free car wash out of it too so I can't be too assblasted over $25 difference.

Good deal from the dealer. If that Ace couldn't do it, they don't have anybody trained right. I work for the company that puts those programs in the stores and somebody not doing their jo. Sounds like it worked out ok.
