    On a more serious note.

AAA have key lost coverage for the Premier Members. Up to $150 including tows.

You will have to wait 1-2 weeks for the program to kick in but you won't be paying as much.

Or ask around to see any of your buddies has AAA. Make sure he stays at the truck when AAA comes.

Wedge the door open, use the yard stick to hit the unlock button by the window switches.

A hockey stick through a vent-opened sunroof also works too

its a little tricky but i have a few wire coat hangers that slip in easier than a yard stick and are bent just enough to accomplish the task without a wedge.

It was already mentioned but it wasn't until a couple years after owning my used '01 that I found a spare in one of those magnetic key lockers on top of the frame by the back d.s. wheel.

 This gave me a chuckle.

I don't usually bring lunch to work, but sometimes when I do, if I don't want to forget it I'll put my keys with it in the fridge overnight so I can't leave without opening the fridge to remind me.

I struggle with that internal debate a lot. The current strategy is to travel with one set of keys, but those keys never leave a) the truck, b) the campsite, or c) the hotel room. They are always stashed in one of those three places. I have thought about travelling with the deactivated spare and keeping it in the camper, but haven't done so yet. That's probably getting too paranoid.

Late model Tacomas have Toyota Remote Subscription. Remote starts and all that jazz. $12/yr seems like a good thing to have and less anxiety.

Let me guess.. Drinking some brews after work with the crew and they head home to soccer games, baseball, cub-scouts, or wives

In comes Molly from dispatch office with her top bottom undone, hair down, you can't believe your luck. All the flirting over the Keurig is gonna payoff, you see your chance. Few more drinks, couple cocktails with Molly, maybe some food, now your counting your lucky stars. All evening you've been bragging about the Tacoma, its stick shift, and this blows Molly's mind as only a real man who cross-fit and drink Starbucks can drive a stick.

She follows you home, score! 4am your wife comes home early from her very potential job interview in Chicago excited to tell you the good news. Well, hottie Molly is pissed that you mislead her that your MARRIED, all those Kureig talks / flirting... Out of spite she took your only set of keys to your MT truck.

Now, can't tell wife where your key's are, can't spend $800 because you cannot admit to your wife as why your keys are missing. So, you come to TW to get you outta pickle.

You will find the lost key/fob as soon as you spend the big bucks on a new replacement.

I miss the old days when one could go to the hardware store and get 5 keys for $10

Though I don’t miss the days one could drive off with your truck with a flat blade screwdriver. Yeah yeah, I know today’s tech can be defeated,,, but not nearly as easily.
Think about that in today’s society.

It's a manual, so you need a chipped key to turn to start. If it was an automatic....

I have four smart fobs for my truck. I have one up at my farmhouse, because hey, you never know...

I am contemplating my strategy for ski-type trips, where losing the key on my person is a bad thing... I am considering one of those tailgate lock thingies, and only locking the tailgate or emergency key in there, and turning off / hiding the smart fob somewhere. Wiping out on the hill is bad enough. Wiping out and being stranded at the mountain because your key is somewhere in a snowbank doesn't look promising.

With my old ride, I used to give a spare to a buddy...

Son lost his only key to his CX5 pushbutton start. Found a guy on Craigslist to make a key actually two keys. Plus he cut me 2 new door keys that slide into the fob for $350. Took him 15 min for everything. Came to the house.

Well, if you have a pop-and-lock, might there be a way of using those leads to the tailgate to "open" the doors?
