I have the push to start and the emergency key inside the fob works on my tailgate. I have three keys. 2 comfort keys, 1 regular key, all three work on tailgate...dealer told me the regular looking key is for the tailgate and the other won’t work but they work to open the tailgate theirs just a trick to doing it, when you put the key in you have to move it to the side and face it only one way. I actually only use my emergency key in my keyfob to unlock tailgate

So I'm a little late to the party, but like another poster, I bought my TRD Sport from a used dealer lot. It has the push-start option and the remote to go with it. The metal key that came with did not fit the door OR tail gate. I got a new key cut (which works in the door), but again, not the tailgate. I honestly was under the impression that the metal key would work in the tailgate. But after reading the various responses in this, I'm under the impression that there was a secondary key for just the tailgate?

I've been tempted to buy the "pop and lock," but I'd much rather go the "cheaper route," and replace the lock/keys themselves (if completely necessary).

Any insight would be greatly appreciated!

    Thanks in advance.

Question: do you know of any vids on changing out the lock?
