I’ve only been out that far for work, and one hurried hunting trip. I’d really like to go spend some relax time and explore.

Cool Pics Mark (my name is Derek BTW). I live in San Antonio (Stone Oak area) and I'm an occasional TW troller.

Anyway, I've been to Terlingua many times (usually on a motorcycle) and love it. For anyone interested, the best time to go is in September right after Labor Day. All the summer crowds are gone and the Fall crowds haven't arrived yet. I've been in the Starlite several times when its just my group and and a few locals. You'll hear some great stories and tales.

I like going that time of year, because the whole reason for my trip is to get away from the city-life, and its definitely a great way to do it. We've stayed at the El Dorado hotel a few times and although its no-frills, its clean and the people are nice. You can park your truck and walk to the Starlite and stumble home in the most beautiful star-lite night you've ever seen.

You can also do primitive camping at Big Bend State Park (not the National Park) and you can REALLY get away from civilization. You'll need a 4x4 to access a lot of the back country area, but man is it cool.

Hope that helps someone in the future!

    Cheers

Appreciate the additional information, especially for later this year. We are hoping to make it back out there yet this year.
