Lots of VIBES going on; lots of threads! Please help consolidate

    Okay so I have a 2005 Prerunner trd sport double cab 6cyl tacoma with 145k miles. Ever since I bought it I've had the bad vibes. I never knew about this forum so I was relying on dealerships which were the absolute worst, and luckily a decent Firestone shop by my house. I've changed from ball joints, new brakes/drums on front and back, new wheel bearings both front wheels, new tires, all new UV joints on drive shaft, new tranny mount, new tranny fluid, and just purchased bilstein 5100 front and back (not installed yet).

    The vibes happen most on acceleration and deceleration between 15-35 mph. So I found that service bulletins for vibes, and I've read prob around 100 pages up all night last night. I'm not just hopping on this forum and not reading (being lazy) and expecting someone with knowledge to do the work for me. I am asking if someone who has done the work can tell me if anything was a waste of time/money, or should I do the service bulletin for 15-25 mph vibes in whole? Frankly, I've read so many different things my head is going to spin off. I build homes, not cars/trucks so this will be new territory for me to spend this much time on a vehicle to try and fix an engineering problem from toyota. I love my tacoma and would love to like this truck again, but the bad vibes are pretty intense. These are some of the things I've read to address:
    Leaf springs?
    Steering wheel damper?
    Engine mounts?
    Rear Tranny mount?
    One piece drive shaft?
    Angles of whatttt? Lol (bad at geometry and algebra)
    Axle shims?
    Removal of needle bearing and replace with retrofit bearing?

    Any help determining the order of how I should approach off of this with my mechanic would be EPIC! I've already dropped thousands into this truck, would hate to just hand the shop my wallet and say have fun rebuilding my truck :)
    Because frankly, toyota of Delray beach is pretty horrible. They didn't even tell me about this vibration service bulletin ahhhh!

    Or better yet, does anyone know of someone or a shop that understands this tacoma issue enough that it's worth me going to in south Florida? I really appreciate the help for a newbie :)

    Wow....hard to help you troubleshooot when you've done all those other things already.

    The first thing that jumps out at me....is that you never changed your wheels. If you have a 'bent' wheel (even slight) can cause vibes. If its a slight bend...your tire guy might not have noticed it when he balanced your new tires.

    The first thing - rotate your tires (both fronts to rear, etc). Does the vibe feel differently? Or change intensity? If yes...I would suspect a bent wheel or something with those two tires/wheel.

    There is a 'redneck' method to check a wheel for being bent.....:D It involves a can of WD40 and the long red straw.

    Thanks for the reply! I forgot to mention I bought new rims off of a 2012 fj cruiser which are 17" alloys. The owner opted for big chrome rims so I got these for the tacoma. I've decided it's not the time or tires since at high speed I don't feel any rumbling or vibes. It's only at low speeds and it sporadic. Lots of people have been in my truck and have said it feels like it's in the drive shaft or read differential. At this point I'm trying to figure out which of the bulleted fixes listed above are worth doing :)
    I appreciate the reply though, this forum is pretty awesome :)

    Its hard to help ya...when you've already done sooo many things. Vibes can come from many different places.....and have many different fixes.

    Have you thought about consulting a different garage for a 2nd opinion?
    After all that money you've already spent....seems like you're over-due for a 2nd opinion to justify the work that's already been done. Unless you totally and truly trust your mechanic??

    You say they're - INTENSE?? How intense is intense?? Does it shake the entire vehicle?

    It's time you crawled under your truck...and look around at driveshafts, ujoints, pinion/angle,etc. Use your noodle and look for things that don't look right. FYI - driveshafts are balanced. If they lose a 'weight' - they will become unbalanced and vibrate. Look for signs that a weight has fallen off....and that kinda thing. Time to get intimate with your truck. Don't let the mechanic have all the fun.....:D

    I went thru this years ago with a 2WD Ford truck.

    Any and everything related to steering/suspension was checked by 2 different shops.

    Shop #3 nailed it.

    Separated tire.

    It obviously had not come apart yet, but was about to. Not saying this is your problem - just something to consider.

    It can be annoying to deal with it. The tires are brand new really good tires, on brand new rims so I know thats not the issue. It's def a "vibe" issue related to all the problems others have noted on the previous threads i.e. 15-25 mph.

    This forum has a vast amount of knowledge and problems that have been worked out along the way via thread responses; the problem is trying to consolidate all of the data that is on this site and determine what is required to do rather than the so called shotgun approach where you just tackle everything all at the same time.

    I'm going to give it a fews days, see if anyone who has went through this and fixed it can help consolidate the issues, then head to the mechanic (good luck because the people that fixed their problems might not have a use for this website and might be doing more fun things that dealing with vibes lol).

    I just ordered Bilstein 5100's so once I get them I'll prob have my mechanic at least put on my struts since I dont have a spring compressor. That might be a good time to tackle some of these TSB's that I've been reading.

    Mine were brand new as well. The age of the tire is not relevant. Separation can occur at any time.
