Anyone else get a pretty loud noise when stepping into the bed? It’s right when I step in, so right past the folded down tailgate. It sounds like something is cracking, though I can’t see anything. Bed looks normal. And there’s no noise like this as I move around in the bed, it’s just that initial step in. I don’t remember that on my previous Tacoma, and wondering whether it’s something wrong? Thanks.

A loose bed bolt is allowing the bed to lift slightly, then sand is getting between the mount and the frame. Every time you step in the sand digs into the fiberglass of the bed making the sound.

Really I dont know, but its a idea.

200lbs. But even if I were 750 I’d still not expect it to sound like it’s breaking when I get into it.

I would say try getting down to 180 lbs, then try stepping into your bed again to see if it's still making the sound.

Thanks, think I’ll have them look at it at my next service.

    No ice here.

It’s weird to me that it’s only in the one spot, like if I move around to the back of the bed it is fine. But that spot right at the front gives the noise each time. Thanks all.

Crawl under the bed and check it out (when temperature allows). You may have to lower the spare to get a good view. Have a helper step on the spot while you are underneath.

I think a good power wash under the bed. Then tighten the bolts on the bed

My 2023 long bed Sport does the same thing, in the same spot... I'll have to check underneath the bed and possibly tighten some hardware up...

D ring bolts and dirt, stepping near it..
sounds a lot like a splinter of cracked abs plastic rubbing against itself when flexed.
the bolts have a cylindrical spacer to fill out the hole under the D ring and are about 3/4 in thick, stuff gets between there and its just like our leaf springs, squeak, crack, squeak, crack.
But really, anywhere the bed touches metal, if there is grit, it can make noise

The sleeves are there to keep the bolts from crushing the bed when tightened, they bottom out on the frame work and the bolt washer. They should be pretty tight it's a hefty bolt.

Matter if you enter from left or right side?

Suspect one or both rear bed bolt needs a couple of ugga duggas.
