Hey I am new to TW. For almost a month now my truck has been making a loud humming noise from the engine when the truck is on. The only time the noise goes away is when I press on the clutch (the truck is manual). The noise is present in neutral and in any gear whether I am coasting or accelerating but when I press on the clutch even a tiny bit, not enough to engage it, the noise disapears. I took the truck into Toyota and let them know about the problem. They said they didn't notice anything and since the noise has gotten significantly worse since then I probably wont be taking it back to them. Anyone know how I might be able to fix this before there is permanent damage? Thanks

2010 SR5 Double Cab manual. Still stock parts.

Could you possibly post a video of the sound? It may help diagnose the issue

Ill try to post a video when im off work my spark plugs are overdue for a change and I am doing that this weekend but I dont see that being the problem. Not sure what my options are if its a bearing.

I don't think it's your engine, it sounds clutch related. My bet would be your throwout bearing is bad or on it's way out. Your only option would be to replace it if it's bad. It used to be a common problem for the manual transmissions, not sure if it's been updated or fixed by Toyota or not (meaning if you replace it, the new parts would be better or updated).

Is that a type of job I could do myself? I don't have a lot of experience working on trucks im not sure if theres a tutorial for these types of things. Im not too keen on taking it back to Toyota because they blew off the problem last week and still charged me a ton I would probably take it somewhere else if I couldn't fix it myself

Honestly, I've never had to do it myself. You might want to see if there are any 'how to's on youtube to see how involved the process is and decide if it's something you want to tackle or not.
