Anyone experienced any loud pops coming from their Dakar’s or the rear end in general while flexing the rear?
This is one of the first times I’ve ever actually flexed the rear end this much and while pulling out back on to flat ground (forward) from this ditch it made a horrendously loud POP!
Any ideas? Truck still drives fine. Just curious if any others have experienced this or what it could be?
I did notice the pack on the drivers side was starting to shift some horizontally between leafs while looking at it and taking my poser pic. Is that normal on this kind thing?

And I’m not totally 100% certain it came from the leafs. That’s just my assumption...

    Thanks!

Did you install extended brake lines? Could have been the mount for the brake lines POPPING out. Most Dakar kits come with an extended brake line kit for the rear to prevent that.

Yes I did. Sorry I should have mentioned that. While looking under the rear end taking the pic I noticed the brake lines were in no danger. Plenty of extra slack flexing that side.

A friend of mine tried out his new 4wd on a golf course also, didn't want to get it dirty either! :)

Could it have been axle wrap snapping back? Were you just-pulling out when it happened, or stationary?

Like the leaf springs rolled the axle down?

Check to see if the front Spring eye moves side to side on the bushing and is touching the frame mount.

My Dakar’s used to do this and I solved it by replacing the front bushing with a poly bushing.

You might be on to something here. It looks like it might have hit the frame. It doesnt appear to have bent the bracket though like some of the photos in that thread but it looks like it hit for sure and maybe slid to the inside of the frame and then popped back out and made the noise.
You can see the scratch in the photo below i just took is in the exact same spot as the photos in that thread. Thanks a lot! I’ll have to do it again and look closer next time!

I was just out off roading this weekend and did some good flexing fully loaded with my rtt and while I was was just pulling out of articulation I heard a load pop too. Everything seems to be normal but still concerning. I also though it came from the leaf springs. Let me know if you find out what it was and I'll do the same. I have the HD springs with the overload leaf removed.

I looked under my truck today and didn't see any contact from the leaf u-plate. I should add that I have the wheelers u-bolt flip kit and superbumps which I'm sure wouldn't allow contact. Also, in your picture it looks like some sort of paint pen from the factory that mind have too. May want to look again. What I did notice today was that the u-bolts weren't centered and may have shifted. I will check my torque specs the re-align the u-bolts. Also something else to consider, why would you hear a load pop after the articulation if the leaf u-plate hit the frame at full articulation? Just trying to troubleshoot our "problem".
