my 2006 Tacoma v6 with 70k on it is making a loud squeal under full throttle. It only does it on the road, not in park or neutral. Any thoughts? It started suddenly the other day,and has never happened before.

Or fan clutch, but replace the belt first and see if squeal goes away.

Full throttle in park or neutral is one of the worst things you can do to your engine other than running it without oil.

Im not fully crushing the pedal in neutral, just a bit of gas to see if it squeeks. AND UPDATE!. Its not the belt, or the pully. Its coming from the rear end somewhere Im wondering if this is related to the squeek I had in reverse a few weeks back, then went away. But anyhow, this full throttle squeek is here to stay, and as I said, its coming from the rear end. Im starting to think Im feeling more vibrations than usual too, but that might just be me being more attentive now. I just had a failed u joint replaced last summer, but as I recall, my entire rearview mirror was shaking, and its not this time. So, any thoughts?

I just had the rear diff oil replaced at a toyota dealer last year when I hit 50k on the truck. And it gave me no problems since then, and I park it in the same spot everyday, and theres nothing on the ground, so unless its literally evaporating out of the diff, the fluid level is fine (I would think), but any other thoughts?

Either a bad u joint, or center support bearing. A diy diagnosis is to jack up the rear and set on jack stands, chock the front wheels(very important), start the vehicle, disengage all the traction control features, put the truck in drive(best to use 2 people), have someone in the drivers seat to hit the gas while you look under the truck to see whats squeeling, careful not to get too close to moving parts and also careful that the truck does not come off the jack stands when your helper steps on the gas pedal. This is dangerous, so if you don't feel comfortable doing this, then don't do it. Also, with the truck on the ground, you can shake the drive shaft at the u joints to see if they have any movement to diagnose a bad u joint. Good luck, and be careful.

This reminds me of the old joke which goes something like this. Man walks into the doctor's office and says, "Doc, it hurts when I do this. Doctor responds with "Well, then don't do that." In this case, it's not a race car. Don't run it under full throttle. Anyway, going to be hard to figure out since it's happening only on the road, not when stopped. Obviously in the drive-line. You're the only one here who has heard the squeal in your truck. What moving part could squeal like that?

Possibly the carrier bearing going bad? Get under the truck, and see if there's excessive play in the CB. Just grab the driveshaft near the CB, and move it in all directions. I believe if there's more than a 1/4" of movement, the bearing is going bad. Could be the cause of the squeal.

Just yesterday I noticed my 2010 DC with 55,000 miles 4x4 TRD making a squeal sound similar to this one. I started out with a sort of clicking sound and as the day went on it started to squeal. It happens when accelerating. It started out as just a clicking or ticking and then with more thoatal it turns into a squealing sound. any more suggestions?

If it was a belt wouldn't it squeal while in park and nutural? It only does it while driving. There is also a clicking or cracking sort of sound.

So after reading more posts. I feel it is my joints. I have read post of people replacing them and some jack the back of the truck up to prevent the loss of ATF, is this necessary? How much fluid will I loss if I don't jack it up considering I only have the stock bottle jack?
