I have the factory aluminum powder coated (equivalent to 20 grit sandpaper) running boards. I like the style and look of them but they serve no help to me in getting in out of the truck because I'm tall. In fact they make it harder to get in and out because they stick out so far and I have to step over them so to speak. They will let you know they're there when wearing shorts as you'll lose skin on the shin or calf as you get in or out. They Provide great door ding protection, but I'll be thinking about deciding whether to remove them or not.

    Lol @DWD484

OP, I feel you. I had some sliders on my 3rd Gen 4Runner that would take some skin if you don’t clear it while getting out.

But fck it, callous can build. My truck doesn’t regrow paint.

I recommend wearing shin guards each day before you take your truck out to drive.

I agree OP they are mostly in the way. I don’t need them for myself but my wife and kids actually use them. I’ve perfected hopping in and sliding out while avoiding them. On my way to a wedding in the rain one time I got a nice splash of mud on my suit pants that rubbed off the running board, I learned how to avoid them after that.

I have the same boards and feel the same way!! But where I park people don’t know how to open their doors carefully and some of my regular passengers are short, so I deal with it. I think the truck looks better without boards but door dings look worse.

Woah, fella. Maybe I’m way off, but I honestly feel like calling someone a “douche” is waaaay douchier than simply saying “ok”. But thank you for letting me know how sensitive you are. I’m giggling. A lot.
