Joined the Toy Taco Club in Dec 2014, the Dealer in Grapevine had my Blue 4 Dr 4x4. Traded in my 2000 Dodge Dakota, was originally Silver but I’m No Raiders Fan, so I had it painted Metallic Blue. Unfortunately, it got T-Boned on Midway and it never drove the same after. Bonnie Mae, my Brittany Spaniel, had a front row seat for that accident, she got all shook up and I lost my right meniscus. Thank GOD I kept my Hunter Green 1993 JEEP Grand Cherokee! Picked it up in Reno (4,505’) after my Pitch Black 1990 Pontiac Grand Am couldn’t handle the drastic change in Elevation from Dallas (450’). Sorry, I’m rambling on about my vehicles.

Motto: “Gotta have a Truck if You live in Texas!” For my very 1st ride, back in Sherman High School (Class of ‘84) I asked Dad for a Truck, he came home w a White 1980 Ford Pinto Wagon. So much for “Father knows Best!” Best Feature - A Beer Keg fits perfectly in the spare tire compartment.

My First Toy Taco upgrade - I had the Dealer put in Heated Seats, should be standard! I kept my white Tool Box from the Dakota and it just barely fits in the wider Truck bed (I do miss my Rhino Liner, thou). I Installed a Front Pipe Bumper w LED Lights for Off-Roading and upgraded the stock Sound System = Sony CD/DVD Stereo w 2) 10” Rockford Fosgate Sub-Woofers in a Sub Box behind the rear seats, and put JBLs everywhere else. Tip #1 - ALWAYS Solder your door speaker wires! While I had the door panel off, I added Sound Matt inside all 4 Doors, really effective vs road noise. And EZ to do, too - Peel and Stick. I opted not to pull up the carpet and remove all the Seats for the Trifecta of Sound Control, Major Tom ;) Not needed. As soon as I wore down those dealer stock tires, I replaced ‘em w the largest GoodYear Kevlar Wranglers (Black Out) that’ll fit in the wheel well, and I splurged on some wicked Rims, to boot. Only bought 4, though… as I just used the OEM Spare Tire for the first time ever! Discount Tires said after 10 yrs they won’t install them. I arrived at Closing time. Tip #2 - ALWAYS get the Replacement Certificates at Discount Tires, and a couple of the large Fix-a-Flats for when you’re Far Far away! I installed an after market linear Brake Light under the Tailgate, but it didn’t last very long. Should be standard. I liked how it connected to my Hitch wiring.

Future Upgrades: I really like the Power Outlet in the Bed on the newer Tacos and I need the Corner Bed Lighting. Found lots of Bed Light Kits online, but not getting the cheapest version, learned my lesson already. Hope my 2015 is pre-wired, but if not.. no big deal, I know a good Electrcian. I’m a 58 yr old Architect thats good w his hands and has a garage full of Tools, to Get ‘er Done right the first time, and a Sledge Hammer, just in case it doesn’t fit ;)
