Just picked up my first Toyota truck!
A nice red certified 2016 Tacoma TRD sport access cab, first thing I got was steps and a Tri fold hard tonneau cover so I can carry some tools around. But The dealer never gave me a key for the tailgate nor did it have any cargo cleats for the tracks. So I have two questions...
Does anyone have experience with the Pop Lock power tailgate lock system, and are there any aftermarket solutions to tie town cleat before I drop 25$ a piece on those things?

Check craigslist and the forums here for cleats if dealership sticks it to you. Even ebay sometimes

Yeah, I got four cleats for $20 off CL. Be patient and they'll pop up. Toyota bed dividers are another good thing to watch for. You may even find a bed mat, a must-have if you don't already.

I have the keyless Pop N Lock on my '15. Works great. Wired it off the rear passenger door, so it locks/unlocks with it.

Not affiliated with this guy at all but he's selling all 4 cleats for $35 shipped. Talk to the dealership first though. Don't ask nicely, tell them they are missing and you would like for them to be provided. If they say they don't have any in stock yada yada then get them to swipe them off of another truck.

Welcome to TW! Check the center console under side of the lid for the tail gate key also there should be one inside the key fob. Cleats can be found on here or other for sale forums for cheap.

Dealer is shipping me a key with new cylinder, but it won’t matter cause I have a Pop lock on order and my ‘16 has a key inside the key fob but it only unlocks the drivers door and glove box, Toyota did not think that through... just put an auto lock on the tailgate duh
Thanks for the help peeps... to be continued

I just had a thought, Try your ignition key. Pop n Lock has programmable tumblers in some of their products. Maybe former owner had two brain cells.

There is a post in here somewhere where the OP details making cleats from a few bucks in parts from Home Depot.

I’ll look for it. Has anyone else seen the post?
