I'd think it would be simple, how much offroad do you do? Me, I'm going with MS2's because a majority of my time's spent on the interstate.

Not much but I live in a Snow belt region of the North East, but mostly cruise the pavement and my trucks a TRD package(Offroad) sounds superficial but I want it to look Macho:eek: but the MS2s on them Pics look Okay to me but Im sure the AT2s would look appropriate on my Truck, I have Firestone Destination ATs now Howling and riding rough at 70K miles I wasnt displeased with them around town driving but they were wanting at High speed Highway driving and I attribute this to the heavier AT treads Lugs. All in all they were a good tire(AT) and cant complain about the wear factor. I want a All Season handling AT tire or as close as I can get:thumbsup: and definetly a Michelin.

Michelin 265/75/16 MS2's, Grillcraft MX series/TOYOTA badging. FJ/SE TRD Anthracite gray wheels. Katzkin leather/heated seats.
I went with the MS/2's and like'em. Either tire I am sure you will be happy with. Given you live in the northeast, maybe the AT2's would work better for you during the winter months. GL

Personally, I like the more rugged look of the AT2 vs the MS2 on the Tacoma. My truck is all highway and my commute is 160 miles round trip. Heck, my truck doesn't even see a dirt road. The AT2 rides great on the highway. The only tradeoff is a little bit of growl from the tread pattern in the 40-50mph range. At interstate speeds it's hardly noticeable.

Thanx excellent info was concerned about high speed highway comfort I commute about the same miles as you and the truck is my Daily Driver too the only vehicle I have. The Firestones AT had a clumsy feel at high speeds, lane changes, off ramps, whereas I once had the original LTX M&S tires on an older truck and they had a almost car like handling to them which Im looking for again. Hopefully I can get the closest to both worlds with the AT2.

Also, mine have right at 19,000 miles on them currently and they still look like new so I think they will last a while.

They are excellent on high-speed blacktop. My truck is a daily driver, and I was purposely avoiding overly aggressive, noisy AT tires with poor mileage.

The AT2 does great at 70 on the interstate. I don't even hear them, and I am getting 19-20 mpg highway. In rain, they feel glued to the road. I can't speak to ice or deep snow yet. I only see that if I go snowboarding...

I had the last version of the MS on my 93 pickup, and they were great, too. But I like the added offroad capability (and the look) of the AT2.

Off-topic here for a second: Taco4x4NC, I just want to tell you that I think you have a very nice-looking rig. Nice color combos, wheels, and cap. Well done!

X2 Thanx for that input pretty much seals the deal on the AT2s with me,I needed a good comparison on the OG LTX M&S vs. AT2 from someone whos had both and can honestly evaluate the comparisons. Contacted Michelin they are going to have another $70 rebate deal Oct.14-Nov.15 gives me some time to get some prices together and use that to wheel and deal the Tire guys alittle:evil:

Well, all the talk here has me sold. I was looking for some new tires to replace my stock tires and these AT2s were on my list to check out. I'll be sure to let you guys know with pics when I get em in a month or two!
Oh, how has mileage been affected?

I am getting about 19-20 mpg when driving mostly highway with my V6 manual. I drive quite conservatively most of the time. Can't compare to "before," because when I bought the truck it had unevenly/badly worn BFG AT KOs and was badly out of alignment.

    scocar, cool thanks!
That's funny, those (BFG AT KOs) are the tires my buddy was saying I should get. My stock BFGs seam to be wearing unevenly as well. Alignment issue as well (I think)??? I'm hoping that I get an increase in mileage when I swap. Looks like it.

Missing My Last Tacoma --- Had 11 Toyota trucks in the past and many other Toyota cars too.
    .

I now have 5,000 miles on my AT2s and they are great and my mileage is the same or better than the OEM BFGs.

FWIW ... raising the cold tire pressure from 32 PSI to 36/38 PSI .. helped the mileage and handling too.

At 30 PSI on hot asphalt, at low speeds, AT2s sound like cat claws gripping the road.

^^I had the same experience. When I bought my truck used it had a tire out of balance so I took it to a good shop here in Birmingham the next day and had a road force balance done. He told me that my tires had too much air in them. They all had 44psi so he dropped them down to 29psi as recommended on the door sticker. They were considerable louder and felt a little sloppy. I brought them back up to 36 and it felt fine and quietened back down.

I love these tires. They ride very nice and quiet. The are quieter than the Goodyear highway tires replaced.
