Love the Truck...but disappointed!

Just an FYI and it may have already been posted as I've read it on other threads here. For some reason the new Tacomas with the tow package come from the factory with a quart low in the tranny. This is what would cause your gears to slam.

Are you a Toyota employee, or official Toyota spokesperson.... ?
If no can you provide official statement from Toyota (quote), because Toyota official statement (posted on T website) does not have clause for warranty repairs and specifically says reman parts are 12 month only. Not that hard to read

@Hades1969 I would Ask for new parts, if no new parts than new truck.
They have to ask you to sign permission to perform repairs, I would not sign it unless it says repairs will be performed with new parts.
Its your truck but they simply trying to save money on you...

 

The CLUE is common sense. If you still have factory warranty and Toyota says to replace the transmission, do you think you automatically lose the remaining warranty on that part? It is not the OPs fault that Toyota wants to replace the tranny. Now if he came in and said I demand another transmission due to this one not functioning properly, that would be a different story. Toyota will cover the reman for the remainder of his factory warranty, and heck, he may even end up getting a free extended warranty.

I am not a spokesperson or employee for Toyota, but I do have some common sense.

Sucks they if you get your trans replaced at 50k, they only give you a 12 month or 10k warranty. That's the luck of the draw I guess

 

Its regardless of mileage, so that point is moot. It also states 12 month or the remainder of factory warranty, which is greater. So if it was replaced one month before your factory warranty is up, you would have 11 months warranty left on that part after the factory warranty expired.

 

Or if it is covered under extended warranty then the life of the extended.....

Looks that the 2016 Tacoma got a new code for a similar 6-spd auto, called the AC60. http://www.toyotareference.com/guts/tacoma16_new.pdf (There's good info with that link).

So an existing engine, but adapted to the 2016 Tacoma. And an existing auto trans, but adapted to the 2016 Tacoma. And some bugs to work out.
