After much debate back and forth I decided to go with the the Yakima Crashpad and could not be happier. I will have to remove the cover when I toss the wife and kids bikes but that only takes a few minutes. Love the fact I no longer have to remove the front wheel :thumbsup:

Hmmmm....I would personally load a bike 10 other ways before doing that. As long as you like it though!

There is a strap inside the bed holding bike down, very sturdy and secured!

I'm looking for something for the same reason. I'm not a hardcore bicyclist but I could use some exercise. Is it a road bike or off-road as well? Your tires look bigger than my friends road bikes.

It's labeled as a mountain bike. It does have 29" wheels and the frame is a large so it is a rather large bike.

The backup camera looks to be covered. How is the bike strapped to the bed?

Looks good. I thought about doing a crash pad, but decided if I went that route I would clear bra the the entire tailgate. If there is any dirt between that pad and the truck, it can act like sand paper on the paint. Ended up going with a Yakima hold up hitch mount bike rack instead.

The back up camera is covered but I'm OK with that, I only use the pad when I'm heading out for a ride.

I have a strap thru the frame and the D rings

Katzkin leather, heated seats, Popnloc, bed lights, remote start, bhlm....
Tailgate pads work really well. Have transported bikes hundreds of times that way. I always have just used thick/multiple blankets. The pads are great (there are a handful of brands).
Looks like the bed cover is preventing the bike from sitting down all the way in the bed. If you carry 3 or more bikes that way it works best because they keep each other from sliding around. Some pads have straps for the downtube of the bike. Great method if done correctly. If done incorrectly you may mess up your tailgate and/or your bike.

I have the Da Kine pad and it has a door that opens and can be velcrowed(sp) to the pad so you can still use the camera, maybe you can do the same with others?

I really enjoy my EVOC pad. With a ratchet strap holding the bikes down in the bed, bikes are secure when off-roading. Only problem is the bike wheels sit lower than the rear bumper, and makes me a little nervous going over rocks and things. Overall, a lot easier than taking the front tires off :bananadance:
