Hey all. Did a search for this topic and didnt come up with anything so starting a new thread.

So, my lowbeam lights and my parking lights both went out at the same time the other day. The fuses are fine, even switched the highbeam and lowbeam fuses, no difference. High beams work just fine as do the fog lights. So basically, I drive with fogs and brights on...

So its not the fuses, anyone have an idea what it could be? Potentially the relay?

Check the DIM Relay inside the fuse panel under the hood. To check it either replace it of swap it with another like relay.

So like all 4 in the front are out? Or just one side?

stock....fogs never come on with highbeams

fog are only wired to come on if switch is in lowbeam position

so what you have is custom bs wiring somewhere
someone has been f**King with your wiring...did it wrong, something gave up or burned something out...etc

so, you need to unf**k it

relays or whatever was tapped to override the defaults

I have not had any custom wiring done. Yes, all 4 in the front are out, all at the same time. So, I will start with switching out the relay, and if that doesnt work will move onto wiring.

    well

impossible to have fogs and highbeams on at same time unless you are in
lowbeam mode, and pulling the temporary flash highbeam switch

as it is illegal (FMVSS) to have highbeams and fogs on at same time in all us states, so
toyota does not wire them that way. many people do custom wiring to make
fogs come on with brights or 'fogs anytime' but in US... ANY vehicle you see on road with high beams
and fogs at same time have been kajiggered with guaranteed, or someone is holding down
    the high beams flash switch

it is possible to have something corroded or blown then all bets are off...but -fogs and high- ? smells fishy

    -------------------------------------------------------------
unless I have your description misinterpreted

fogs only (low beam position but low beam not working)
or high beams only and no fogs would be possbile

/\/\ he's got a point. I overlooked that but yes correct about not being able to have highs and fogs on at the same time. It's either one or the other or modify the wiring to make it work..

Alright. I dun goofed. I MEANT to say brights OR fog lights. Durp.

So let me rephrase, Brights and fogs work (not at the same time) , but no low beam or parking lights. Fuses are fine. Switch seems fine, can pull it to blink the brights and switching from off to low to bright works fine. So, I ordered new a relay and bulbs and will put them in soon. If that doesnt work, would the wiring be the next thing to look at?

OK so now I am happy.

but I have no advice :anonymous:

it is rare to smoke the wiring in a non-messed up truck, so
relay is probably gunna do it for ya

Alright, so this situation is resolved. I decided to replace all the bulbs first on the off chance 4 bulbs all went out at once...and what do you know, thats exactly what happened. It seemed so unlikely to me that I didnt even consider it.
