Low Beams do not work, High beams are now Low Beams

Hi all,

I have a strange issue.

2004 Taco

Recently, my low beam setting has stopped working all together. Oddly, when I switch to my high beams, they are now only shooting my low beam lights. I searched a bit around multiple forums and found that this might be caused by a short of the connection within the steering column so I pulled the wheel off and took a look but I dont see any signs of overheating or disruption.

Can anyone else think of a reason why this would happen?

 

Have you checked the relays in the fuse box under the hood?

 

Im a bit shamed to say that this problem was fixed by changing out both the bulbs.

The perfect storm of them going out at the same time, not looking like they were blown, AND the high beams also somehow affected by this led me to believe that it was a much bigger deal than it was.

 

Well good deal. It could have been A LOT worse.
