    Weekly submission.

    Cook stove "heat concentrator".

This fellow directs heat around more surface area of cookware. It significantly decreases the time to boil and really helps in a breeze. Main cook pot sits inside, fry pan will sit on top and gets heated evenly.
    Made from an old pot.

Interesting...little bulky for my needs but I would like to figure out a better windscreen for my MSR stove. The flimsy tinfoil one that came with it leaves something to be desired

    :)

It is a pretty thin piece of aluminum. If you pull it across the edge of a picnic table or tailgate it smooths out the wrinkles and makes it setup pretty nice.

If you call the Cascade Designs/MSR warranty department and ask nicely they will probably send you a new one for free.

I got out my old (as in the first or second year of production) for a functional check before use this year. It had developed a fuel leak where the rubber braid covered tube was crimped to the evaporator tube. Had a nice unexpected fire going, shut the valve and beat the fire out with a heavy rag. Emailed MSR, got a return authorization number, packed up the stove and sent it in. About a week later I had a brand new stove. Hard to beat that kind of service. Makes one be a customer for life.

I don't know what they'd do about the wind screen though. The aluminum is really soft and can be ironed to get the wrinkles out. I've used a pair of grill tongs(ones with a spoon shaped end) to iron out the wrinkles successfully. Use a hard surface as the anvil. Aluminum will work harden (the cracks mentioned) but can be annealed (softened) with a propane torch.

If you're using the Whisperlite for car camping, some aluminum roof flashing (stiffer but can be cut with a stiff pair of scissors) works well and saves the softer shield.

    My "overall" wind screen.
The panels are scrap laminate (counter top stuff) with the ever popular duct tape hinges. Lightweight and mostly fire resistant. Also can be taped down in position, for the full gale.
I would think the number, size and shape of the panels could be scaled down for the lightweights.

Fully extended in a "U" configuration.
