Do you lose low end power with a CAI? Ive read a few different responses. Some people say that it doesn't and others say it does. Im not looking for increases. I just want to add more personality to my truck without losing power if I can help it.

Get better stickers. Honestly, you can add a bit of HP with the right headers and a CAI. Maybe 12 at the rear wheels. Get a Supercharger, only way for real soul, that you call personality. And no stickers. You'll be happy. And more noise.

Don't know about the Tacoma....but... I had a 2004 Dodge Ram with a CAI. The only time we noticed a loss in torque was while towing (6500lbs).

Nothing yet. Old truck had the works.
No idea about tacomas. But i put a k & n into my 2012 scion xb lost some low end power. But got more high end. Could actually feel it pull a bit. And the sound was awesome. Sounded amazing. Got 3mpg more too. sounds too good to be true but it was. God i kinda miss getting 28 mpg...

Add HP... yea at higher RPM's you'll get a negligible gain.
Lose TQ... yea at lower RPM's you'll get a negligible loss.

It's a balancing act of HP vs. TQ and any changes will move one up and the other down. As mentioned before, if you are looking for real gains you'll need a power adder. HP and TQ together come at a cost, this is not a variable, it is true with any internal combustion. Power Cost $$$

Damn it man, you beat me to it by seconds...

Most people refuse to admit that there is a trade off.

i noticed slight power loss down low and more up top. i installed the intake spacer and it brought the power band back into the lower range. i get more hp throughout the rpm band now. this is with the afr intake and crawford maf spacer on my v6.

no dyno sheets. Just 24 years of driving experience and knowing my vehicles. I never got a base line dyno run, so getting a dyno now would be pointless. It's not so much a loss of power, but the power band shifted up with the CAI. Got that sorted out with the IMS.

Dyno charts are in my Sig, O.P.

Hmm, If Crawford posted a dyno chart, it needs to be added.....
