    It's covered.
    I'm getting mine checked Saturday.
I don't seem to have any problems and everyday things get smoother...I just want piece of mind.

Yea I just have noticed the jerk in the morning going to work. After reading this thread and it possibly being low tranny fluid from factory. Piece of mind is what I want as well.

How are you supposed to check the tran fluid? I'm noticing an issue in my slanted driveway in Drive as well as Reverse. Sometimes it rolls backwards when I'm in drive. Sometimes it doesn't move when in reverse. -TC

The transmission will take hours to warm up unless it's sitting in gear

I moded 1999 Taco so much it had turned to Land Cruiser
That incorrect. AC60 has thermostat and engine cooler/warmer. So it should warm up to engine temperature with the same speed as engine.
If you look on pass side underneath you should see a can with two hoses coming out and two lines going to atf cooler. Thats it.

If they give you any trouble give them a PIECE of your mind.

Once it is resolved to your satisfaction you will have PEACE of mind.

    Hey Terry .
What does it say in your owners manual regarding a transmission fluid level check when you are at home ?
Or better yet , you are off roading and accidently break a transmission cooling line . How would you fill the transmission in an emergency ?
There is a procedure to check it at home but would like to hear if anything has changed from the 2nd gen truck

Well that's odd, why the hell you a brand new truck be shifting into gear so jerky. Doesn't make a whole lot of sense...

Just doesn't seem like a brand new truck would be shifting hard or delayed from park go drive as part of the "break in" process according to what your dealer told you

Thanks for posting back . I guess it blows my theory out of the water regarding the trans being low . Thats the first symptom of a low trans fluid condition .
Strange that a transmission has to break in , Very strange considering we are dealing with initial engagements first thing in the morning and the computer in your truck has nothing to do with initial engagements . I know the shift programming uses adaptive learning but never knew they accommodated cold morning engagements . Strange !!!!!
For the record , were you able to watch them check the fluid level ?
Did they say anything about the engine surging ? Did they say anything about why you have to rev the engine to get the truck to move when its cold ?
Suddenly this drive by wire theory the dealer is telling you may come into play .
I wish I had a 2016 as I would run outside with my scanner and look at the voltage running through the throttle position sensor . It should be zero or at very least 1 volt direct current . I cant see why it would be any higher during a cold start ?

That's what happens when you write on forums with your phone. Keep policing these threads though, you are doing a bang up job.

Seems like you dropped off your truck same time as I did today. I got a call saying in order to get the 'cold' start they would need to look at it over night. Also to get the best reading of the fluid level. I will update tomorrow on their find.

I didn't watch them check the fluid I had to go back to work....engine surging is normal on startup because engine is still warming up....basically all they said were wait till 3-4k miles until break in period is over and everything should b back to normal...I was able to talk to the technician that looked at my truck and he told me that he took a new Tacoma for a drive and it did the same thing on cold startup so considered it normal....if anyone has better luck then I did please share cause I'm done wasting my time with the dealer

I could see the engine surging a little on start up when cold as being a normal condition during break in , but delayed initial shift first thing in the am is not a normal condition of break in .What if the truck the technician test drove was low on fluid as well . I understand your frustration with the dealer . Keep us updated if you notice any difference in cold morning engagement now that the dealer looked at your fluid level .

Sorry, didn't mean to hurt your feelings. Just saw 'piece of mind' three times in four posts. I am doing a terrible job policing grammar/spelling--this place is out of control. Piece/peace, then/than, you're/your, to/two/too, were/we're, they're/their/there, its/it's, quit/quiet/quite, defiantly/definitely, noone/no one, alot/a lot, etc.
