I added almost a whole quart of atf ws myself and it still has the delay when cold. I guess this is normal

I can't say for certain, but I believe the trans shifts into neutral when you are sitting with still foot on brake. So in the morning when you shift to drive, its still in neutral technically until you release brake and give it a little throttle.

Strange . I have never heard of this ?
Is this part of the new Toyota programming ?
Most vehicles remain in drive until you move the shifter to a different gear
Where did you find this updated information ?

Its becoming standard on modern transmissions. By dropping into neutral they can squeeze just a hair more MPG. Like I said though, I have no idea if toyota is using this strategy.

I checked mine and added about 3/4 quart. Still delays on first drive of the day. However if you wait just a few seconds after putting it in gear, then release the brake, it does not have the delay/lag. I believe it to be normal for this truck. I also believe .75 low won't hurt it.

This is not normal - if fluid doesn't fix it, there is some kind of a defect.

A general question to everybody that is experiencing this issue, How many miles do you have on your truck? could it be a break in period for the transmission or something? could it be that it will get better as the truck gets more mileage ?
