    it's a turd gen

Sometimes when something breaks early (as factory defects do) dealers offer to buy the vehicle.
History of which is in the service history.

    why don't you ask them

There’s no way it was sold 12/16, wrecked, repaired, traded/sold, put back on the market all within 2 weeks. Have you tried getting anything fixed lately? Takes weeks upon months if not more.

True. But no reason not to buy a brand new one at a better price. Walk. 2023 are being discounted 3k off sticker easy for any auto sr5 or trd off road why buy used?

Also true, but you’re not getting a TRD OR for $40 with tax. Cheapest online is $38,947 ($2,500 off MSRP). With tax you’d be probably $41,500+? Depending where OP lives. Then you have to figure if it’s worth $1,500 for a new one with no mystery? I’m with you, I’d buy the new one for peace of mind

Have you looked at dealers near you with new 2023 Tacomas on their lots? I would shop this weekend and see what kind of end of the month / end of the calendar year deal they offer you on a new 2023.

The guys offer is $35,000+ tax $3,500+ $1,500 for paint protection ( repair) or key replacement insurance , the MSRP on the internet was for $42,400 and was listed by the dealer @ $38,500
It was offered for sale for the first time on 6/16/23 and brought back on 10/30 and given back to the dealer .. I have noticed that on the car fax that it had 5 safety inspections one was listed as adding running boards, and another for a recall, two emissions one when the dealer received it and the other when he sold it the other says Misc/ codes….

No guarantees a “brand new” truck won’t have issues right off the bat too, go for it if you feel the price is right and don’t see any damage to the truck. First thing I’d be doing is looking under the hood for any wiring clips or harness that are not sitting correctly or secured in place. Same goes for the underside of the truck

Someone suggested that dealers would register a car in a family member’s name for a month then transfer back to the dealership, but now as a pre-owned it’s not covered under the lemon law

Wouldn’t it still be covered by the magnuson moss act?

    Receiver hitch.
My previous Tacoma was a 1999 access cab that had 3,600 miles on it. The story was that the guy purchased it and then his wife got pregnant and the access cab was no longer such a great idea. That one was "Toyota certified used" for whatever that is worth. It did not turn out to have any problems from that 3,600 miles other than the slight dent in the rear bumper that I saw before buying.

Bought my 2020 under similar circumstances. It was a lease that the financing fell thru. Had 700 miles on it when returned. Staff put another 1200 on it by the time I purchased.

Same dealer in both cases so I wasn't worried about issues. Dealers will send the ones with issues to auction.

I bought my brand new '23 TRD OFF ROAD back in August for $40k OTD. The dealer where I got mine doesn't have any '23 TRD models on the lot now.
