I've got another brain cramp. We have a '16 SR Access Cab 2.7 5MT 4x4. I recently swapped the instrument cluster and entune premium radio from a '16 TRD Off Road. I also swapped in a steering wheel from a '17 SR5 to get leather wrap and the controls for the cluster. I've got 2 issues with this 1) inclinometer doesn't work/ tpms screen is not there but it does work. Dont care. 2) *The kicker* I get a low oil level message when the truck is at idle AND up to operating temp. I do not get this message any other time. Yes, its full of oil. I never had this issue with the previous cluster and it appeared immediately after installing the new cluster.

Any idea on what is causing this indicator? I am certain its got to do with some difference between a 4cyl/6cyl. Could it be a software line or a signal difference from a sensor??

Everything else works perfectly. I get all the features of the trip computer, audio, nav etc. Love it. Yes, my odometer matches.979108025031103247.jpg

if you have an OBD2 reader you could possibly monitor the oil pressure and see what triggers the light

Did you refill the cluster oil?

In SR swaps I have seen inclinometer work on both angles, tpms is not there.
The oil thing really is a stumper. I believe info is not canbus sent as I have posted wiring for standard cluster which shows a switch.
Anybody know if it's a pressure reading sent in some trucks instead of a switch indication ? Also a low oil level switch ???? Hmmmm.

Pin 36 on the back of the instrument cluster is the line for the Oil Level Sensor. When you try to ground pin 36, and you ground pin 35 because you weren't wearing your good glasses - what you want to happen doesn't happen.

the Oil Level Low notification goes away if you actually ground pin 36.

So, solution for 2.7L owners with instrument cluster from a V6. Ground pin 36.

@David McGinnis is my hero! Grounding pin 36 fixed the problem. I really appreciate it. I dont have the FSM for this truck and couldnt find these diagrams on the net. I used a pin from a gauge cluster from an 02 Subaru Outback I had laying around. A little trim work on a grinder and it fit right into the connector in the Tacoma. I grounded to the screw just below the cluster.

To follow up on above- no the inclinometer doesn't work on my cluster. It stays flat and doesnt move. Am I missing something simple with this also?
