Dealerships will tell you it's normal to lose up to 1 quart every 1000 miles. It's absolutely absurd but that's what they say so they don't have to diagnose anything. I would just top it off and forget about it.

In addition to what's already been said, don't just go by engine noise to determine if something is out of whack. These engines make noises that will scare the crap out of you and they are perfectly normal. If you ever want some entertainment while you're waiting in line at the drive up window somewhere, wait until you are right up by the building and roll your window down. :D

yea, something is wrong if you are losing a quart every 1000 miles. probably happens when people baby their engines and never rev it above 2000 rpm. the rings never seat properly.

    Truth.
This is both the loudest & most expensive engine I have ever had.
Even the $100 cars were quieter. :(

That said it is just as noisy as it was 40,000 miles ago - I tell people it has an experimental diesel.

That's crazy. It only holds 5.5 quarts. Oil pump probably can't pickup the last quart or so. 4000 mile oil changes, I mean refills?

Put the oil in and then check it in 1000 miles
I don’t think they filled it properly
