Hello, just seeing if anyone has had this issue before.

This is my second Tacoma, it’s a 2023 with 25k kms. Was driving the short 3 min drive to work in -15 today when I got yellow triangle with an exclamation mark stating I had low oil pressure. I pulled over immediately and walked to work. On break I walked over to my truck to check oil levels.

Dipstick showed that the oil was high and looked milky almost. (See photo), last oil change was 1500kms ago.

My uneducated guess is coolant in the oil, which is potentially tripping low oil pressure? That or multiple issues at once - contacted the closest dealer to me which is 9 hours away, waiting to see what they say.

    Cheers

-15, not enough antifreeze in the coolant, cracked engine block?

    Welcome to the forum :hattip:

    A few questions:

How often do you drive at highway speed for an hour or more compared to how often you make the 3 minute drive to work?

Short trips, especially in cold weather can build a lot of condensation in the oil (nasty combustion byproducts too), without highway driving where the engine (and oil) get up to full operating temperature the moisture will accumulate in the oil - this is also an ideal condition to make sludge.

Sludge is deadly to modern engines by the way.

How often do you check the oil, was the level and condition normal last check?

Your definitely going to need to get it too the dealer . I would have them truck it there for sure
    Could be a head gasket

Last time I checked the oil would’ve been about a month ago, it had looked normal then. Since then I haven’t done any highway driving, just short drives around town for the last month. I talked to toyota and towing is only covered for the first 300kms, but because of my circumstances they are going to have the local mechanic do all the warranty work. I wonder if that’s what did it then, I got no check engine light when I got the low pressure alert

It sounds like Toyota is going to take care of the problem (as they should).
Perhaps an oil change is all that will be needed. :fingerscrossed:

Yeah, 9 hours away that sucks. 25k kms on a 2023 already? However the oil does look a little suspect. Having a dealership deal with it under warranty or in your case a local certified mechanic, determine what is going on would be your next step I would think. Hopefully nothing too serious. But when your oil starts to look like that It may suggest something more extensive unfortunately.

Hope you get it resolved soon and it’s not all that serious. Keep us informed.
