went mild off roading this weekend and while i was on a pretty steep incline "low oil pressure" light came on and a second or two after the engine stopped. i've read a couple forums and i cant seem to find an answer on how to fix this.

    Define "pretty steep".

When you shut the engine off, were you on level ground or still on the incline?

Have you checked the engine to ensure that it's not in fact low(ish) on oil? If it was only right after you shut the engine off, I wouldn't be inclined to worry about it. Likely a combination of hot (thin, and lets face it, 0-20 is only slightly above sewing-machine oil to begin with...), a slightly low oil level, and the normal pressure drop as the engine winds down.

There is tons of info on this, the oil is pooling in the back of your head as there is no return line that is back there. Also its going into your PCV valve so it will burn oil out of the exhaust. Google some more and youll find tons of threads on this.

Did you shut the engine off, or did it die?

Could recall the low oil light blinking on my 2001 tundra if going down a steep hill then coming to an abrupt stop...slamming on the brakes. Engine never quit though.

I had the low oil pressure light come on for about 5 seconds while on a steep incline. Engine did not die.

Can you help clarify the situation? Was it…
    1. The light came on a second or two after the engine stopped on its own, or
    2. The light came on a second or two after you stopped the engine, or
    3. The light came on and a second or two later you stopped the engine, or
