Do they have an area of their site for complaints/issues like this?

I am sure they burped them ahead of time. Seems like a minor issue since it doesn't repeat, so far. I am not dissuaded in the least and am picking up my truck Friday. If it becomes a real problem Toyota will address it.

No worries guys, since this is not safety issue, Toyota will take care of that problem just like they did take care of the head gasket issue on 2005 -2006 trucks :D
Paging @foampile so he can tell you how much Toyota contributed to head gasket issue on his truck....
Honestly if you get oil pressure warning light which comes on at like 4-6 psi. You probably running low pressure other times too. And a lot is regulated by oil pressure in this engine.
So Either stay on flat ground, or get some other truck (there are only 1000 Tacoma trucks left of model 2015 in US last chance).

Have you driven on any inclines significantly steeper than what you are parking on when you get the low oil pressure warning?

The oil pressure light comes on when there is almost no pressure. Idle oil pressure is very low, usually around 5 psi. Higher pressure comes with RPM which is needed for VVT control, lash adjusters, and chain tensioners. With all the coatings on the internals oil isnt as much of a issue as it once was.

I went back and check for 1GR is 4.3 psi as minimum. So yup you are probably right, 5 psi is where they expect to be at idle.
I don't know about coating, but generally running with no oil pressure is not a good thing.

BTW what kind of coatings ? and Where ?

    yeah what coatings ?

there is no magic new unobtainium in this motor. it is steel vs steel vs aluminum with lubricating oil on the parts that touch and slide.

what coatings besides a molecule-thin layer of oil ?

I don't think foampile will be back for a while lol.

Plus his, "I'm going to drive on a busted head gasket a few miles because what's the worse that could happen," has a lot to do with his problems.

    Anyways, continue on.

This guy's problem seems repeatable and dealer verified so he actually may have some issue but he's gone quiet.

His airbag failed to deploy when they curb stomped him.

In all seriousness though things are probably hung up on Toyota's end until they get the okay from corporate to break down the engine to figure out what's up.

Well, I'm figuring by this point if they've contacted corperate they are waiting for any sort of answer. The first ones they get should be simple, but if those don't work a teardown isn't unlikely.

So it depends how you define "a long way out." With one of our Fords at work it was literally 24 hours before they started tearing down the engine only to find out the oil filter had been inhaled by the engine lol. How they didn't notice that before dropping the pan and pulling the heads is anyone's guess.

Probably more likely to tear into the ECU.
