well should be easier the second time around, I think I will cut the cross member off where the top of the radiator is to make it so I can pull it out at a straighter angle, has anyone here done that before I have seen photos of it done

Are you using a mechanical or electric oil pressure gauge. FWIW - the oil pressure sender (electric) on my 4.0l went "erratic" last year..... after troubleshooting the sender (resistance readings) and checking all electrical wiring and connections, and a discussion with a VDO tech, I replaced the sender and that fixed the problem.

I'm a little confused ... mechanical gauges usually run a capillary tube directly from the engine to the gauge, no sender is used.... did you "bleed" the air out of the capillary tube

its on a tee sender on one gauge on the other just like the picture at the start of the posts. And no I did not bleed the tube even with air in the tube your VVT cams are not going throw codes, low oil pressure will though

    Not mine. I have a 2.7L...
I also assumed that the OP had a 4.0L, but it seems he has a 2.7 also.

Does he have a true gauge connected with tubing or does he have an electronic pressure sender unit?

If tubing and he had the suction off he could be sucking air causing a loss of pressure.
If he has an electronic sender I would suspect a defective wire or a defective sender.

if the oil pressure relief valve was stuck open would that give you low pressure?

Surely not. If so, what’s the purpose?
You’d go from too much pressure to not enough.
Which doesn’t make sense to me?

I don't suppose you have tried changing the oil and filter now have you?

At the very least you will have an idea of what it's doing to your internals.

    From a quick google search......
"A pressure relief valve that is stuck open can allow too much oil to bleed off. This results in a lack of oil pressure and catastrophic engine damage. A valve stuck closed will result in excessive oil pressure. This can blow out the oil galley plugs in the engine block."
