I *think* I want a low-profile nerf bar. I don't need/want a step and I don't want a typical rock-slider, as cool as they are. For esthetics and some protection (maybe more aesthetics), it seems I want some sort of nerf-bar tucked up tight to the body just below the body drain plugs.

I've search quite a bit and can't seem to find what I'm looking for. I'm willing to be told what I want is non-sense. Thought I would ask anyway. :)

OEM Nerfs too big? Get the n-fab steps. How much do you want to spend?

    Also :gossip: "aesthetics"

    "aesthetics" yes changed. :)

That's the thing, I don't want steps/rock-finders. Aesthetic-wise, with my white truck, looking at it broad-side it seems a small black bar connecting the front and back black fenders would look nice, just like nerfs/steps do. I just don't want something sticking out, I like keeping things tucked in tidy.

Can you just add a cosmetic rocker panel molding (black plastic), adhere with auto adhesive? That would accomplish the "look"? and probably be far cheaper

Protection isn't typically a word associated with nerf bars.

The OEM ones sit pretty high and tucked to me. But they do stick out a bit..

Ah, yes. Fully expect this perspective. And I agree. I guess that's why I'm would only be looking for *some* protection.

If you shop around a bit you might see that some sliders are nearly the cost of some of the nerf/predator steps. Might be worth it to spend just a bit more for some piece of mind.

Yeah, I've bookmarked RKR-Rails from N-fab. Lowest profile I've seen and with rock protection. Cheaper than retail Predators too.

I'm in the same boat as you and have the same wants i guess. Ive narrowed it down to either the oem nerf pictured above or the rkr rails. I feel like there is something missing from the side profile and my wife would like steps because she has a hard getting in and out being short. The only rock sliders I like are the c4fab's but thats gonna set me back a lot. Lol

Aesthetics. Not wanting to give my Taco wings.

Looking for something more subtle. I expect groans when some read this. The reality is I'm in San Diego. We've got a massive 4x4 playground an AM's drive away but 95% of the time I'm commuting to work for my desk job and the primary reason I bought a taco over other capable trucks is how it looks.

That's why I installed mine. I'll probably never use them for what they're built for, but I'm tired of inconsiderate people letting their doors slam into the truck. Hope they like bent on edges on their car door!
