To “Ilyace ”…that looks like a super water tank system you have. I also like the pressurized water tube styles too.

I usually will carry just a 7 gallon water jug from Walmart. Simple and cheap. I will mount a standard water spigot on the cap.

Be aware water will slosh around, can cause damages. If containers not secure. Water weights approximately 8 lbs per gallon. So this extra weight to be aware of too.

In my 30+ years of camping and using showers and I try many hot water systems too. I found simple is better.
I just boil water, small pot use a wash cloth and soap. I will use a 5 gal pal for water , a battery power (4Ds) sprayer to rinse. Average for rinse is 2 1/2 gallons per person.
My estimation for carrying water for showering is 3 gallons water per person per day. I gallon of water for washing dishes, hands per day per person.
This ocean beach camping, we have no rivers or lakes. We do wish our dishes, pots and pans with ocean water, rinse with fresh water.
Because we carry ice and coolers , the water from the coolers are save and can be used.

Our style of Ulua fishing ,and we carry so much gear, is “ One man ,One truck”, and every one always bring extra water and ice.

    Oh man…
@SOLID I have the day tank mounted on the passenger side bed rail and the weekender mounted right in the middle of the roof rack. I have a small table that the day tank goes on when we’re camping for a wash station. We just bring it in the shower tent for showering. It’s nice having the 8 gal on the roof, the hose reaches all the way to the back easily.

I debated for a long time on what bed rack I wanted to get. High, mid, low… Having the tent above the roof line does put a small hit in the MPG’s, but I love being able to walk under the tent when it’s set up and get to everything in the bed.

Water brick. Had several for years to store water in. Very sturdy and would easily fit in that space. Just Google "water brick". I notice Wal-Mart now sells them.

Thank you for mention “Water bricks”. I have not seen this on my island of Hawaii.

I did research a little more, because I think I want to try this.
Sizes I found 1.6 gallons of water or 13 lbs dry food. And 3.5 gals or 27 lbs of dry food.
Also you can freeze this and use like ice blocks.
Prices varies, Amazon listed the 3.5 for $24.00 prime. You can buy in bulk.
Stackable. Water can stay safe for up to six months.

At our local Walmart they do carry the Aqua-trainer, 7 gallons, I being using for years, my spouts were breaking, and I found and order parts (Canada).

    Walmart online 8- park 3.5 $159.00. 10-park 3.5 $188.00.

For dry foods - Lowes sells the Gamma lids for 5gal buckets and have the food approve 5gal buckets ,also sold at Lowes.
I use these lids and buckets for everything ( water proof and air tight?)

As you've guessed, I've got the mid-height rack and suffer the loss of space for sure. I know there are tank manufacturers who will build custom tanks. Wonder if anyone has already done the R&D for a tank like this. I'd like it to not block the rear window, extend fully across the back, and attach securely to the back wall of the bed. There may be a great reason to NOT use a tank like this.

Just a thought, when people took the fender off the bed of the Tacoma. There is many empty spaces.
Maybe a great place to carry water? Or put a water tank inside?

There is a video of a father and son , making tool boxes hidden in the bed fenders! (Full size trucks.)

Dodge truck made a storage on the side fenders.

Ironman has several options including a low profile roof rack tank. Also more affordable than the Frontrunner options and they also regularly have 20% off sales. I think they currently have a 25% off 4th of July sale going on. Have purchased two tanks from them and they both have worked out great.

I've got the roof rack tank. I might have been one of the first in the US to get it actually because they imported it for me before they were distributing them in the US a few years ago.

I'm still using it as my main water tank. Pros are that it's low profile, durable, and I've had zero issues with it. Cons are that it's a kind of a lot of weight to have that high up (though no worse than an RTT I suppose), and it does get warm cooking in the sun.

You can see it on top of my camper shell in this pic.

Water is heavy approx 8 + pounds per gallon. Water will slosh around ,throwing the weight each side, unless has baffles? Be aware of this if mounted on the roof?

I seen water trucks flip over on hilly turns, from the water forces.
Water containers , Best be mounted in a lower position. Unless it is a small amount.

It's 100 lbs of water full... it's not going to flip over a truck no matter how hard you slosh it!

Honestly, it's imperceptible to me driving around with it full vs empty. I also don't hear it sloshing around mounted on my shell.

Very good to hear , no problems. Your low profile water storage looks nice .
I carry only the 7 gallons water containers from Walmart, and one five gallon with a spigot for easy washing mounted on a small table. Storage in the truck bed.
Years ago I wanted one big water storage unit, I look at boating supplies. Decided what I was using work well for me, cheaper, easy to handle.

I once had a Coleman propane hot water maker, instant hot water, $200, till it broke. A hot bath in the wildness , nice!

One day portable and affordable water making device that collects water from the air? Maybe two? One for me and one for the dog? Maybe one, leave the dog home?
