If you want stock height, then you probably shouldn't be looking at shocks with 2-3" of lift like the link you posted.

But it would help to know what you plan to use your truck for, and why you "want a new setup". Like are your old shocks worn out and just need replacements, or are you looking to crawl the malls with it? Go off roading?

Still didn't describe your intended use for the truck. Daily driver, off road? etc...

A popular option for stock height shocks are the Bilstein 4600s. Basically the same as the 5100s, just not height adjustable.

For coils, there aren't that many options for stock height. You could go with Moog, I think general spring makes them, too, or go OEM, but those will cost you.

I'd just go for the shocks first. Rent a spring compressor (for free) at your neighborhood parts counter (O-Reilly's etc) and replace the shocks (lots of videos and how-to's online to help you thru that process). That should make a marked improvement. If that's still not enough, then get some new coils, too.

I would call up a place like Wheeler's Offroad. They have the 4600s and can assemble the coilovers for you for a charge. The only thing I'm not sure of is if they have stock height coils for you.

Not sure of anyone specifically that sells the 4600's fully assembled. There's several 5100's out there that come assembled, but they typically come with OME 88X series coils which are lift springs.

Bilstein 4600's as mentioned, and get some OEM replacement springs.

    OEM OR DIE!!!!!!!!!!!

    :D

The non-oem stock height springs typically aren't the best quality (I hear Moogs and Generals tend to sag pretty quickly), and the OEMs are pricey - enough so, that many people end up getting 5100s and putting a set of OME 881's on and a small add-a-leaf in the rear to match and calling it a day.

    Just 3 tons of fun!!!

I had Moogs on mine for about a year. They were preloaded on 5100s though. But I did not see any sag what so ever. Not saying they wouldn't have. Just saying I didn't see any sag.

Preloaded on 5100s however.... they were harsh, and every damn thing on the truck seemed like it was rattling. (off the subject a bit, but 5100s, in my mind, shouldn't even be considered "adjustable" they're good shocks, just don't pre-load them).

For sure. I'm just regurgitating what I've heard others say about the springs. No personal experience from me.

I set my 5100s on the middle setting with my stock springs, and the ride definitely improved. I think that had more to do with not having worn out shocks, but that was my experience, nonetheless... The middle setting could have just been enough to compensate for my old sagging springs.

The 5100s are probably the "best" way to give a truck a mild lift with minimal expense, but still add functionality and performance, vs. just throwing a hockey puck in there. Plenty of people have them cranked all the way up and seem to like it just fine. But they're probably the type that don't mind walking around with rocks in their shoes, either.:D

use overlanding, long drives on/off road so hoping for smooth. budget 3-4k. not really considering solid axle swap.
I get you measure factory height but then what just guess how your setup will look or if it will have enough clearance?
    thnx btw dude

smooth + solid axle swap don't mix, so no need to worry about that. Only reason for a SAS is for rock crawling, or you are constantly breaking CVs.

    What's your current setup? Stock?

Ideally, the first thing you do is figure out what size/type tires you want and go from there. You want the MINIMUM height lift that will accommodate those tires. Lots of people think you "need" a 6" lift to fit 33's, and that's only kinda true if you don't want to do ANY other mods. A simple 2.5"-3" lift will fit most 33's with only minor other mods (search "pinch weld mod"). Your tire and wheel selection makes a difference too. Consider the backspacing of your wheels (if going aftermarket). The taller and fatter the tire, the more this comes into question. Also the type of tire, C, LT, or E rated has a pretty decent effect on ride (smoothness), and MPGs. E's are "best" for off roading, but you do take a hit on the highway ride and MPGs.

As for shocks, when sticking to less than 3" lift, all you really need are coils/shocks in the front, and either a new leaf pack or add-a-leaf in the back (plus shocks). Coilovers range in price from a couple hundred a pair to arm/leg prices. You don't NEED to spend $4k on suspension to get a well performing setup, despite what you see on instagram. A $400 set of Bilstein 5100 shocks (all 4) and some coils and leafs that are appropriate for the weight you're carrying will vastly outperform stock, and is honestly all most people "need".

I really like my Kings, but I couldn't justify spending that kind of money on my daily driver that say only occasional offroad. It's only when it turned into a dedicated trail truck that the Kings made sense to me. Check out my build thread for my mindset on that...
