hey guys. I have a low speed chirp noise, noticed it at a drive thru. I tried to attach a video, hope it worked. Truck is a 2018 with 12k miles. I recently installed a lift but it would make the noise when it was completely stock. https://streamable.com/gl5i3

Mine does it, some guys complain and get new pumps installed but sometimes the noise comes back, other guys have luck with ethanol free fuel.

So it’s just a noise that the pump does? Not actual damage? If it’s not damaged I don’t really mind the noise.

I’m going to mention the fuel pump at my next service to see if they replace it.

I got mine changed out cause I couldn’t stand the noise with the windows down. High Pressure fuel pump it was and it was covered under warranty.

It’s the high speed fuel pump. Ethanol free fuel like mentioned above stops it or 91 or better octane stops it. I’ve been running 93 in my truck since 5k miles and no more chirp. Truck has 51k now.

I’ll have to check that out tomorrow. Mine always chirped and knew it was the pump, but it didn’t bother me. I switched to 91 octane but never noticed if it went away bc I didn’t care.

So if I switch to 91 gas the chirp will stop ?

I run 92 and have the chirp. It only went away for me when I went to ethanol free but they don’t offer ethanol free on anything higher than 89 here so I had to deal with chirping 92

I ran 87 for the first 10k in my truck and the pump in my ‘17 got so bad it was embarrassing to see heads turning trying to figure out where the screaming squirrel sound was coming from. Running 93 did make it a little quieter but it was still annoying.

Had my HPFP replaced about 15k ago and the noise has not returned - but I’ve only had 93 in the tank too

There was a TSB for them and a manufacturer change in the HPFP. Mine has been replaced and no longer chirping. I don't use 91 or ethanol free. Was replaced last April 15,000 miles ago.
