My live data scan tool reads 600 rpm however my dash tach says about 400. Is this normal or could my tachometer be bad? Its a 2002 3.4. It says in fsm to replace the tachometer in the fsm if its not in spec.

How important are 200 RPM's? The computer doesn't care what the tach needle is at. If the computer itself is off by 200 RPM's you might want to change it.

When the scan tool reads 3000 does the needle show 2400?
