The production date only shows as 10-2015 and I bought it 11-2015. It has a production number of 053841 and was built in San Antonio.

If by checked with a computer, you mean that piece of shit scan tool, they are notorious for not properly reading if a transmission has the correct fluid level. Only real way to check involves a drain plug and temp check procedure.

Thanks. If you can try a different dealership and complain about it. See if they'll do a proper fluid check for it. Others have had success by offering to pay if they find the trucks actually properly filled, but you risk being ripped off by a dealership that way.

I'm not sure if production date of the truck means anything. I would be more interested in the production dates and locations of the transmissions found with low fluid.

I'm guessing that the transmissions with low fluid could be scattered at both build sites if the were built in the same transmission factory, at about the same time and shipped to both build sites for upcoming use.

Of course, that wouldn't happen if the transmissions were built at the same place that the truck was assembled.

I'm certain Toyota now has corrected this issue on the productions lines. However them issuing a TSB may open a can of worms for them if people start having transmission issues down the road. So I'm sure they are bouncing back and forth with their attorneys over the issue first. Also they may be trying to track down exactly what vehicles are effected to either list in a TSB or to notify owners of the issue. If they do that, then I would expect them to offer a free inspection at the dealership to verify that your transmission fluid is low or was and already refilled, and if found by the dealer to be low and fluid added or flushed then I would assume they will extended a powertrain warranty or the transmission itself for a certain extended period of time. This could potentially take some time however

Or they could just of corrected the problem on the production line and just turn a blind and hush the squawkers with an extended warranty if they take it to the corporate level or if they threaten to take the matter to litigation.

Only time will tell I suppose

2nd generation Tacomas had this issue and I believe it never got a TSB.

Just received the phone call from my dealer, I was 1 quart low on transmission fluid as well. Waiting to see how it drives once I'm off work.

Wow that sucks. Hope they end up taking care of you. That's a lot of miles you put on and your already half way through your powertrain warranty. If they don't give you a new tranny now, just make sure everything is documented in your repair orders so of this happens outside of warranty you have a paper trail to fight them

We had the same problem among a few other minor issues we were a quart low but after words it was amazing the difference in the tranny it is so smooth and milage starting going up. I suspect it was more than a quart. I specifically asked to have it checked before we picked it up and since we didn't know better we thought was just the way it shifted rough. Very happy now.

I'm at Coggin in Jacksonville, they pulled the plug on mine and fluid trickled out. I'm having them document it as I type this. Manufactured in Jan of this year, tow package 4x4 OR package.

Interesting that almost all the auto makers now use the Asin tranny

General Motors, Ford, Mitsubishi, Nissan, Porsche, Saab, Audi, VW, Volvo, Hyundai

I believe that is the correct level when it just trickles out. So them documenting this just proves yours was at the correct level. Idont understand your statement?

For me it was very noticeable but it had gotten better at around 2k or we got used to it.

    Loud as hell URD exhaust!
If you were nearby I would help you check it yourself. Its not hard to do for piece of mind. There are plenty of people on here that can help also.

I know we pay hard earned money for these trucks and expect a certain level of service but I dont rely on Dealerships for squat. Once I drive mine off the lot Im taking over to make sure it will be the most reliable truck I own.

I wasn't clear, sorry. Yes it trickled out, but they initially didn't document anything on the service report and left it blank. I asked them to actually type out their findings so it's in their computer. This way if there are any issues down the road its documented. I don't trust dealers after my last experience with my last truck and have asked for more clear documentation whether it's fixed or not fixed.
