Have a 2009 base model AC 4X4 4.0 liter truck. In four years have managed to keep windshield washer fluid full. Drove a couple of hours on slush filled highway last weekend and washer fluid ran out -found out at the side of the road - no light on dash to indicate that it was low.

Is Toyota so cheap to nickle and dime for this feature or is my light not operating for some reason?

Bad enough the truck didn't come with variable speed wipers! (fixed)

Found this pic and yeah, definitely remember seeing it.

From what I gather, 1st gens do but 2nd gens do not... Kinda strange they cheaped out and didnt put it in the newer ones.

My old car had leather, heated mirrors and seats, sirius, bluetooth audio, built in mood lighting that changed 8 different colors, and a ton more stuff.

I was extremely surprised when I ran out of washer fluid and there was no light. I actually figured the pump broke as I couldn't hear it while driving.

My 2003 grand am I had before that had a washer fluid light. I guess I was just surprised there wasn't a light when it had every other bell and whistle.

^$40k doesn't buy you much in Canada.
    ________________

My previous car (Mazda Millenia) had it. When the fluid drops to a certain level, the light would come on and off intermittently as the fluid sloshed around due to acceleration and braking. The feature was more trouble than it's worth, in the same vein as having a caution light for burnt out headlights.

He's in Canada, he's not joking. They really cost that much once you cross the boarder.

Yeah, And what about the lack of having a dirty air filter indicator!

Put on the big boy pants, open the hood and check fluids on occasion?

Is it that hard to check your washer fluid? Is how I know when I am out of washer fluid is when it stops coming out. haha Then I just make a note to buy some soon.

Out of all the vehicles I've owned I only had one that had a washer fluid light(2010 VW Golf). I just think it's one of those things that aren't needed. They make people rely on their car more than their own devices to check their own washer fluid. It's just like Blind Spot Monitoring.

In Canada they feel that giving us all those cup holders justifies them not giving the other little options that other manufactures have. I think that people shouldn't be complaining because they know what they are getting before they buy it and how much they are paying($40k or more here in Canada). Either way, I am happy with my Tacoma.

It is a luxury you get used too, and I found out the hard way that I didn't have one. Driving at night on a slushy, mucky highway, occasionally having to stop on the side of the road to throw snow on the windshield with the wipers going so I could see for 5 more minutes. I was sorely disappointed to find I didn't have one. Another benefit is if the light comes on you knew it would take a full jug of fluid and you wouldn't have that quarter jug to toss or pack around with ya.

Check behind the back seats in your double cab. Not sure about the access cab's or reg cabs.

x2. i could not care less about not having a light to tell me it’s low. just another stupid light to come on all the time. don’t care about the TPMS either! or the maint rec light that comes on every 5k to tell me i need an oil change. i think i can keep up with that stuff my self. and if you must put it on make it go off by it self when you change it. I’d rather have heated mirrors and auto dimming mirrors inside and out. than have a stupid light telling me my washer fluid is low.
