Even if I wasn't on vacation and unplugged the last 2.5 weeks, I doubt I would have been able to keep up with that thread. I leave for lunch and there's 30 new pages.

Anyhoo, I thought I ended the thread. What are you doing posting in it more??

Ok so back on topic. I literally put new BAll joints with new hardware in 8k miles ago and my passenger side is leaking grease. So by that, you guys are recommending replacing them?

    Unfortunately, yes.

    Install went as it should?

Did you buy OEM? 555? Or some off brand through Autozone, etc.?

See if the place you bought then from will warranty them for you. Or at least give you a discount on the next set.

I remember awhile back on here, Camelback Toyota sold several LBJ assemblies that turned out to be no good (lot of people complaining they had play in the first year after install) and they made it right for them. I can't remember if they fully warrantied the parts or discounted the next ones but they did something

Well I bought them from Toyota of knoxville here in TN and those fuckers won’t piss on you if you was on fire. I’m fucked, I’ll tell you right now lol. Guess I’m just gonna have to put new balls joints on it AGAIN.

LBJs I am getting concerned about as they are originals still at +22yrs old, i don't do intense offroading (on purpose) so maybe they last longer if your driving habits are more freeway and pavement oriented? with an occasional midwest offroad adventure ... i.e. more mud and NO mountains to climb

If you are on originals, you are on borrowed time.

The maintenance interval is 100k so I'd make it a priority if it were me. Easy to check them though if you want to be sure

dammit to these local service dealers and their stoppage of the maintenance interval packages over the past decade :annoyed:
i am so confused on what needs to be done anymore on schedule since all they do now is a la carte recommendations
... i must acquire a 'high mileage' service manual if one exists and keep personal track better

    A la carte haha.

Just search on here. After 100k miles I'd recommend the LBJ and at 120ish water pump / timing belt.

Someone can add to the list. I did a bunch of other stuff like steering rack bushings, then the rack (started leaking). Lower control arm bushings etc

I believe it's 90k, or 9 years. or maybe that's the timing belt I'm thinking of...

Either way, @GQ7227 REPLACE THOSE BJs!! Easy to do with a $15 pitman arm puller. Should take about an hour or less.

As for service intervals, this should help get you going. Enter your mileage.

Mos Def Replace those things asap! Mine had been a bit sloppy for a while and I was aware of the need but was waiting to replace CV's ...
so I did all last week - Really handles better! especially after a new steering rack a few years ago and new upper ball and A's when I did my suspension last fall (OME mid-heavy springs, nitro-charger struts / Rear Dakar leaf pack w/ aal)

i went through this list from this link and it looks more or less the complete and thorough maintenance packages i got the first 10yrs
still have not seen where the LBJs need replaced, it just says to inspect them?

do you have part# handy, i will just put them on my current order with Camelback

Nothing really changes with higher mileages... you just repeat all the 30, 60, 90k items over and over. Every 90 you do the timing belt, etc...

I don't have a part number, but Cambelback does...
