Okay...so I just had my Icon Stage 4 installed. The shop that did the install said that my bushings were bad and that I should replace the lower control arms because the bushings in them can't be replaced as a stand alone item. True?

Recommended Total Chaos Lower Control Arms but those suckers are pretty pricey!

    Thanks,

Why are they bad? Seized? I havent seen any 3rd gens that need lower arms. Seems like a really pricey thing to buy just because a shop said to.

I wouldn't replace them or the bushings. I usually have to change arms when the truck is 10 years old and I cant move the eccentrics.

Didn't exactly say. They said that when they test drove it, they noticed a knocking sound when the brakes were applied and the vehicle was turning. Then they said they checked it to confirm.

With that said, I did NOT hear it on the way home. But, I have (on a few occasions) heard a one-time knock when I back up with the wheel turned (even before the install). It does not happen often, just every once in a while and I have not noticed any drop in performance.

If you have to fix the stock bushings just buy new stock Lowers. Less work to replace.

if you are cool you will ask a fabricator to build new lower control arms out of 4130 steel , uniball replacement for the ball joint ... and , and uniball replacements for the bushings pivots (the total chaos Lowers have lame bushings). Don’t believe any propaganda about longevity of a bushing vs a uniball pivot, always go uniball or heim joint

    Nm camburg makes them :
