Why is that an insult? The lower control arm wind noise is probably a simpler fix and requires less time to validate. I sure hope Toyota doesn't rush the transmission issue and then cause bigger problems down the road. Not mush risk in the fix they released for the LCA.

Its not like (I would be surprised if it is) the same engineer is working on the transmission problem and the control arm wind noise. Then decided he would rather work on the LCA than the transmission.

Now if it is the same engineer working on both he probably worked on the transmission first. Then while waiting for lab test results, instead of twiddling his thumbs he worked on the control arms. Since the control arms is probably a simpler fix that doesn't require the same level of validation as the transmission, the LCA fix is released first.

Glad you were able to get it addressed by the dealership and not get the classic dealer line "we weren't able to reproduce the issue".

Yup Corvallis, OR. I directed them to the TSB, and there was no problem. Have to get the "parts" from somewhere, but they're on the way. Gotta hand it to the folks who pushed this. It was driving me a bit crazy. Actually, other than that noise, the vehicle has very low road and wind noise to my hearing, and I'm pretty picky. Quieter than my 2007 Honda Odyssey. They could have used a bit better of a muffler, though, because that sound is pretty load when going uphill pulling my trailer.

Awesome! Eugene here. The noise drives me nuts too, will have them fix it the next time I go in. I agree with the muffler too.

No I don't think so. I cant believe they are giving them 30 mins. I could probably do a 100 trucks in an 8 hour day. 50 hours logged in one day!

I have this issue which hasn't really been very loud and only happens rarely and like others say in a cross wind.

My other wind noise issue which is more bothersome sounds like an open window. Not really very loud but it is always there. Possibly a door seal or a rear vent problem.

I have an appointment for next week with the dealer. Looks like regardless of an active TSB they still have to open a case and go thru the procedures for the whistling noise.

Truck has less than 1000 miles. Compared to my old s10 4 banger it's really quiet. Really quite pleased and thou mileage is on the low end it is increasing to around 19 mpg. No long trips yet. Not sure since it is a 4x2 whether it has grease jerks.

I'm in Eugene also. Have you had the transmission fluid checked and the driveline zerks greased? If so what dealer did you go to? I bought mine at Lithia Springfield but have an apointment for transmission fluid and zerks on July 5th at Kendall Eugene. I heard the howling noise for the first time today, so I'll add that to the list.

My mirrors howl at about 45mph but I have not heard the control arms. The seat belt slide up and down anchor button rattles in my ear but thats the only noises mine makes.

Dealer fixed the whistling noise under the TSB. Not that it was very loud.

No luck with the open window noise. Below their noise threshold. So I googled around and found a similar problem for a 2010 Silverado. One solution for the rear vents was to pack one of those pool noodles around the right rear vent being careful to allow water to drain.

Using one of those 5' noodles I used 2' below the left vent and 3' below the right one. That has made the cab very quiet and I can't detect the wind noise. I'll experiment and remove one and see if it was just In my head. Seems like it is as quiet as my Avalon now.

I also bought mine at Lithia and had them check the transmission fluids (they added some to my truck - trd sport 4x4 DCSB) and they checked everything else under the truck. I went in and made an appointment for them to do this (they were very helpful and had no problems doing it). I also had them double check everything during my 5k service. I have noticed the howling, but haven't gone in since to get that fixed. Let me know how your appointment goes with Kendall. Good luck!

I got word from my dealership parts manager that there are 500 plugs on order, 800 plugs on back order nationwide. He had no idea about the TSB but will call me for install once the parts arrive.

I took it into Kendall today. When I picked it up the service advisor said the "transmission is a sealed unit and shouldn't be opened according to the master technician who performed the work". The trans fluid was checked with some tool and found to be ok.

However here's what the work order reads: "FLUID WAS SLOW DRIP AT 26mm OK."

Nothing noted on the work order about the driveline grease. The service advisor said they are greased during manufacturing and never need to be greased. I said that doesn't make sense to have grease fittings if it doesn't need to be greased. He said "that's the way it is these days". He also went on to say after talking with the service manager that I should be careful with what I read on the internet.

I feel like I'm getting the runaround, and I'm going to go to Lithia (where I bought it) and speak with them.
