Anyone know what the unused fuse locations are for? They have 12v present on one side so inserting a fuse would apply power to something downstream but what? I can’t tell from the wiring manual. Full disclosure, I’m adding keyless entry and the control module is in the drivers side kick panel. I’m looking for a nearby source of power that has 12v when the key is off. I can stick the hot wire in the front the fuse panel but that’s kinda bush league.

Options your truck does not have.

Just the way the wiring harness is made. That fuse block might fit several models.

If I was adding Key less entry I would run a new circuit off the battery and not piggy back it off something else.

I have found in the long run this works the best for me.

    Good luck!

Thanks @Bivouac. If it’s options I don’t have them I don’t think I’m piggy backing off of anything. What I’m hoping to find is if the wiring is extended from the fused side of the panel off to whatever option I don’t have and if so what color are the wires?

Only way to know is to pull the fuse block and look .

You do have the EWD for your 2004 ? . That Should show all possible options for that year.

I know mine for 2000 would be different enough .

I also Have unused slots in the fuse block . I do not think have anything is attached.

I am working off of a 2001 Tacoma wiring manual. Everything I’ve needed it for so far has been an accurate for my ‘04. Got both doors working with the remote and the hot wire jammed into the front of the fuse block until I figure out a better way. Right now my garage is approaching 100 degrees and it’s humid AF so I just cleaned everything up and I’m calling it for the day. Hopefully someone has a fuse block handy and can tell us for sure if those empty fuse slots have wiring downstream.

I hope you added circuit protection.

Yes, there is an in-line fuse.
