    i know i have seen it before but i can't seem to find the thread but the outside pieces that bolt into the sides of the front bar where the tow hook is. the ones that slide in an out. they are used for shipping purposes only and can be removed, correct?

    I believe it helps with the airbag sensors in the event of an accident. I might be wrong but that’s what I’ve heard.

    I don’t want to spread false information but what I was told is that it just extends the crash bar.
    And will bend it enough to set off the airbag if necessary. Also keeping you from driving on top of the car you rear ended.

    Yes took them off when I put on front bumper. They just stick out and ruin the look.

    ^^^ The answer that makes the most sense so far.

    I thought they had something to do with pushing objects away from being climbed on by the tire. Trivial items, nothing serious obviously. Like keeping a coon from being wrapped around your cv joint and stinking 4 days later...
    I too, would remove them if i had a high clearance front bumper. Spoils approach angle for the tire itself.
