How difficult is it to correct speedometer/odometer for lower gears? Kicking around the idea of swapping in some 4.88 gears to run with 255/85 R16. I know that's lower than stock, should make it drive a little better, would like to have the speedometer/odometer read correctly.

    Thanks,

    David

It's most accurate way, I don't know of any other way. Maybe the more knowledgeable 2nd gen owners do..

I have 4.88 gears and used the hypertech inline speedometer calibrator. 30 minute install and my speedometer and odometer were dead even with a GPS.

Just looked it up - thanks! That looks a lot easier! Just hooks in to the OBDII port?

Yep, hooks into the ODB port and you hook that up to a computer. Enter in some numbers and bam, speedometer is correct.

Does the Hypertech have to remain installed on the OBD port or after the computer magic can it be removed?

It does not stay installed into the ODB2 port. There is a wire than stays installed behind the speedometer. If you want to go back to stock, you just unplug that.

    Install Procedures

I have an Ultra Gauge and I am still able to use it because it is always plugged into the OBD2 port.

I got scored a hell of a deal and bought the Hypertech from a member on here for $30. Take a look around ebay and you might be able to snag one up for cheap.
