Lower grill colors

I recently installed a hidden winch mount and had the lower grill cut up to make room.

Well, I discovered thanks to another on this forum that I could of kept more of the grill for a cleaner look.


You can see the holes on this one.

So I just ordered another lower grill, they're cheap why not.
However I just opened the box and it appears black whereas the original is grayish

Am I just seeing things or was that an option for the gen2 tacoma?
I'm thinking it would look better anyway.

 

I personally have never seen them black colored but wish they were!Mine is gray colored on my 2012.I'd keep it for sure if it's the correct part which apparently it is!I've considered painting mine black but if there available black than i might invest in one in the future!

 

Granted I haven't taken it outside and compared them side by side but I will if I can get home while its still daylight today.

Do the base models have a gray lower grill too?

Also... is it grill or grille?
