Lower king shock bolt crooked

    Anyone know what’s going on here?…thx. Both sides of the lower shock mount bull are crooked. I was greasing my upper control arms when I noticed it thanks

    there is a spherical bearing in the lower mount like the one below to accomodate that angle. yer good.

    As a side note, they’re notorious for going back rather quickly on kings. I had to replace mine within like 20k miles, they squeaked so bad you couldn’t turn your wheel without it creaking badly.

    That doesn't make any sense...this is not a strut...it's a shock and nothing on the shock has any thing to do with the steering.

    It’s actually quite simple once you see it. Every time your suspension cycles, small or big, your a- arms push up, changing angle on the pressure put on the lower shock, which makes it rotate on the bolt slightly off angle, and if your spherical bearing is worn, it will squeak due to the metal on metal contact. There is a teflon layer in the cup that wears out. If I can find my pics of mine when I replaced them I’ll post them.

    i have had the squeak when turning as well and @medicfung is correct.

    to see how this happens, stand in front of your truck watch how the hood rocks to one side and then the other while your buddy in the truck turns the wheel lock to lock.
