Hello, Tacoma family! I recently replaced all the speakers on my 2011 TRDOR non-jbl stereo. It seems that, while the sound quality has improved over the pathetic stock speakers and tweeters, I have to crank the volume knob to near max just to get any kind of 'oomph' out of the new speakers.

Is it because the stock head unit doesn't pump out the kind of wattage that the new setup is designed for?

Here is a screenshot of my speaker order for anyone that can help me figure this out.Screenshot_20250129_095504_Gmail.jpg

Yeah, lots of posts about this.
Bigger speaker + thicker material + beefier magnet = less volume from the same power

add a Kicker Key amp ($280) and you’ll be much happier

I have plans on upgrading to a head unit that has Android auto. Would getting the amp still be recommended?

A head unit will be marginal. You’ll go from about 12w to 20-25w. You can always do that update first and see how it treats you
