Brainstorming here. So right now we’re 2 inches lower than stock on the TR lower kit. And looking at the specs for our stock coilovers we have about 2.375 inches difference on 540 springs.

I’d like to go about 3.5 inch drop. So I’m curious what shock length would be best for 600 springs. Like to have plenty of adjustment real estate on the springs too. @hemitruk @easts1d3 @Torspd

This came out perfect, and was pretty easy to do!

My speedo was reading roughly 5% too fast after installing my smaller than stock (25.7" diameter) tires. Now with the new speedo gear I am reading only about 1% too fast, vs the factory setting normally around 3% fast or so from what I have read. Basically it reads only about 1 mph too fast at 80 mph now! Used my phone gps speedometer in the maps for testing.

So if your speedo reads high (3-4% or more), you need a larger speedo gear (more teeth) to compensate. Each tooth is roughly a 3-4% change on our Tacoma's. You need to figure out how many teeth are on your stock gear as the starting point to do your math then either get a larger or smaller gear. You dont have to count the teeth as they are actually labeled on the part. You may need to compensate for tire change or axle gear ratio changes as both could impact your speedo readings.

I decided to drain and fill my manual tranny fluid while I was at it, since a bunch leaked out when I removed the stock speedo gear. Thanks to the forum I decided to try out Red Line MT90 GL-4 and I am super glad I did. I definitely noticed smoother less notchy shifting and less whine sounds coming from the tranny tunnel.

This link below is where I got most of my info, it has a great explanation and even more importantly the part numbers for all the various oem speedo gears available for cable speedo's as well as electronic speedo gears for both auto or manual trannies.

Thank you @2Runner for the update. It is a definite mod I need to complete.

Redline mt90 is in all my manual Toyotas. IMO is really helps the trans last longer and also helps with any harmonic noise.

Hey everyone I have a question about 3/3 lowering and steering with ball joint flip. I recently did this to my 2001 sr5 and now it rides very rough. I'm new to lowered trucks so maybe I'm just being a total n00b and not used to it but, when I hit a small bump or pothole the front end shifts either direction, kinda feels like hitting a little patch of ice or something. I'm wondering if this is because I haven't had it professionally aligned yet? Waiting for new wheels before I take it for alignment...

Also wondering if someone can recommend/link to some good bump stops for the rear.

You going to keep the TR lowering kit spacers installed for the sway bar? And are you anticipating a 1 inch drop lower than the TR kit with this set up or about same just more stiff

I just looking for better ride quality with the adjustable coil overs . Looking for just 2 in drop like TR kit. If had chopped spindles might have gone for 3 in drop. As far as sway bar spacer just need to see how clearance is .Thinking of going with the 550# springs since stock ones 540# .With the 2 in drop and shorter bump stops I dont have problems with bottoming out .

So talked to Fab Quest about the vikings and 19 in extended only come 350# max spring rate . So either need to go with the 19 in extended and need to find 2.5 id 14 in spring with up to 600 # rate or go with 17.85 that has springs rated up to 600#. 17.85 ones has 6 in of travel so thinking should be ok getting to height Im looking for .Need to get more info .

Edit If going with 17.85 thing going to need 2 in extender :annoyed:

Saw Eibach got 14in 2.5 id springs . Think going with 550 # springs since close to stock #s according to your chart . Got about 1 in gap at bump stop ,got shorter ones.

When I was looking for springs for mine, they had higher ppi rated ones than Eibach. They are where I ordered my front springs though. Unless something changed and they no longer sell suspension springs.
