Also, the mileage logged into Carfax in August isn't from an emissions test; I did get my truck inspected at my mechanic's that day, and that's when he discovered the concerning rust spot on the left side of my frame; My truck passed safety inspection, but my warranty period to get the frame replaced was set to expire in about a month and a half so I took it to the dealer. One thing I've noticed is that it takes longer to log inspection info into Carfax when an independent shop does it than when a dealer does it; As such, the odometer reading of 136,837 was logged when I drove it less than half a mile to Thompson Toyota from my mechanic after getting it inspected, and reading of like 136,835 or whatever it was when my mechanic logged the miles hasn't come through yet...

Thompson found nothing wrong with my truck's frame that would qualify it for replacement during the August 16th inspection, but I was advised to bring it back for one final inspection a week before the replacement period was set to expire. I brought it in on September 24th, 2021 and to my amazement they found perforation on the passenger side by the catalytic converter (Currently waiting for the new frame to come in ); Thompson logged 138,651 miles when my truck went in the second time, so that's almost 2,000 miles in just over a month! I expect that at this rate, I will be at a minimum very close to 200K before the end of 2024!

On another note, here are the lowest mileage 2nd Gen Tacos I have ever seen in person, in order of the lowest mileage relative to their age at the time...

October 2017: 2008 RC 5-lug auto with 20K original miles, currently in the possession of second owner (can be seen in this thread)
October 2020: 2009 RC 5-lug auto with 26K original miles, 1-owner (can be seen in my 2nd Gen Tacoma Stalking thread)
October 2017: 2007 AC TRD Sport 4x4 auto with 70K original miles, 2-owner (current owner is my physician and I'm pretty sure he's still at less than 100K)
September 2018: 2010 DSCB TRD Off-Road 4x4 auto with approximately 56K original miles, 1-owner (my friend and former supervisor; Currently at 69K)

I forget what year I last got a mileage reading from this truck, but there's a local locksmith in my area who drives a 2011 RC 5-lug auto that less than 60K miles as of a couple years ago!

Highest mileage 2nd Gens I've ever seen...

The highest-mileage 2nd Gen I've EVER seen was a 2006 or 2007 AC SR5 V6 4x4 with over 400K on the clock, just this past summer!

Coming in at a close second is the 2005-2008ish RC 5-lug auto that had a refrigerated shell on the back was and was being used to delivery meat or seafood, which I saw in the summer of 2015 if I remember correctly; It had about 300K miles on it despite being no more than ten years old at the time, and I know it was no newer than 2008 because it had the pre-2009 radio with no AUX input. 300K miles, still running, and with working A/C according to the delivery driver!

I picked up my 2007 AC offroad may of 2020 with only 32k miles on it. Older gentleman bought it new. It sat in his garage with very little use for the past few years. She wasnt perfect, few scratches and a couple small dings. Been trouble free for the past 20k miles.

well considering mine is a 2012 and has 118k yes i would say so lol. I think mines still considered low? To be fair everything else on my truck outside of motor has less than 60k on it.

My 2011 is now my daily driver, since a drunk driver hit and ran on my Honda Fit totaling it in May this year. Got away with broken ribs, car did it’s job keeping me alive. The Tacoma has 35,433 miles as of the morning commute.

My trucks an auto but I do plan on manual swapping it this summer so i can supercharge or turbocharge it. And shockingly it has almost no rust besides a few spots on the front half. Had the bed off a little while ago so from the cab back its pretty much perfect after a day of grinding and undercoating. Theres obviously some as with any 12 year old truck but im working on making it absolutely spotless bumper to bumper. Best part is it was only $9k with 13k miles and zero problems back in 2017.

At the Toyota dealership of all places after some old man traded it in for a newer Tacoma. Granted its Air conditioning and an auto trans away from being the cheapest taco to grace the showroom floor in 2010, but so far I've probably put around $4-5k into it and a wish list that could easily top $20k lmao
