My truck had 2 miles showing when I arrived at the dealer, it had never left their lot. My paperwork shows 11 miles thanks to the test drive they insisted I take before delivery.

okay low mileage on pickup is fine and dandy...but doesnt that mean the tech's aren't test driving the vehicle during the PDI process? Of course I'm referring to those with only a mile or two

Anything can be sold as new if the registration hasn't been processed.

I'd say yes. In my case, I did the driving. Not a typical customer, though.

Correct, mine was sold as "new" even though it had 4,000 miles on it. It was never registered by the first owner that didn't put any payment on it. The dude screwed the dealer somehow. But I got a bit of a discount. Sitting at almost 16,000 now 9 months later.

A few years ago we found a (then) current model year car on a dealer lot in the used section that had 8000 miles on it and bought it from the dealer assuming it would be considered a used car and it was priced accordingly. Turns out it was driven by someone at the dealership for several months while remaining in the dealers inventory. According to the state of NC we were the first owners of the car and bought it new from the dealer. When we went to trade it in it showed up on Carfax as a single owner car.

that must mean someone (probably the sales manager) had it as a demo car. Not uncommon

What a dipshit sales guy. You should have stopped at a drive thru, got a burger and then dropped him and his truck off and left.

Every truck has had atleast 3 different people in it before it got to you. In fact it's more like 6-7. The guy who drives it out of the factory and does a small test drive. The person who loads them onto the trains that deliver them to the storage lots, and the truck driver who loads and unloads them, delivering them to the dealerlots. More than likely the person loading and unloading the trains are different. So that would put you at 4. Then someone at the dealership stocks the truck in and moves the truck to a row of vehicles because the delivery guys will park them whereever. Then after that a tech grab the vehicle to do the PDI. So there is 5. Then usually before detail a lot guy will drive it to get gas. Some dealers have their own gas pump, others must drive to a near by gas station to be filled. So that will put you at 6. Then it goes to detail so a detailer will drive it in to clean it. Let's just say it's the same person to pull it back out, however this isn't always the case (7). sometimes your sales person will end up moving the vehicle perhaps from detail or wherever moving it to a different spot or delivery bay/module. So that could put you at 8. All this can happen and your odometer only have a mile or two.
